Just taking a quick gander at the upcoming 5 games, there are some winnable matchups in there. I find it odd we are scheduled to play Louisville twice in 10 days. With Louisville twice, BC, Syracuse and Virginia at home I feel like we could go anywhere from 4-1 to 0-5. My prediction is:

@ Louisville - L
BC - W
@ Syracuse - L
Louisville - W
Virginia - W

would put us at 3-3 in the league. Thoughts?

They definitely need that B.C. game.
Which definitely sounds stupid as i type it.

Louisville has our number and they are playing better. Those are 2 L’s. I’d say 1-4 or 2-3 is best case scenario since we tend to play our best ball this time of the year.

I’ll say we go 4-16 in conference. 9-22 overall.

Hey. Somebody has to be real about this dumpster of a hoops program. I understand it sounds very doom and gloom and negative. Sorry to say that’s where this program is right now. I for one won’t be happy and think this program is improving because of a few scrappy close losses against other bad teams. There is 0 reason for any optimism around here. We don’t even have a recruit signed for next year for Christ sake. Jeff Capel is in year 4, worse off than he was in year 1. Playing a walk on guard legit minutes at this level is embarrassing no matter how you look at it. We have about 3 ACC level players. He can’t coach a or develop a lick. He can’t win games. He can’t recruit. I mean, why would I be even a little happy with this program? It’s a disaster and it’s not going to get any better until Jeff Capel is gone
Other than that, everything is good? Lol. Lighten up. I may agree with you about a lot of this but he’s gonna be coach at least until Mrch and probably March of 23.

Let’s hope They somehow turn this around?

We are 0-2 in the league right now so that would be 3-4. But yes, that would be nice. 4-1 in that stretch would be better.

Wow you have really changed your tune… new year’s resolution???

when are you hopping over?

I am excited to see them play with Horton back though. Although as was discussed in that other thread, I don’t think it’s as cut and dry as we’re automatically _ points better with him.

The identity we’ve developed and fully bought into is winning ugly by getting after it on the defensive end. But the defensive end is Horton’s weak spot. Now, obviously he helps so I’m not saying that he won’t. But I think his actual points are offset by what he gives up defensively. His real asset IMO is the spacing he creates as Jeffress on the court is basically 4 vs 5 on O. So I’m curious to see how that helps Femi/Hugley

Even if he’s a - defensively we’re playing 4 on 5 on offense with Jeffress in. He’s gonna be a + just by being out there and hopefully he’ll give up open shots to guys who will simply miss, lol.

Haha I meant mostly about him coaching til March of 23. I get posting about the small positives
Lol yeah I don’t know I don’t see the point of kicking the can when you have the buyout money if you don’t think he can get it done but my job isn’t attached to it at all.

My issue with this season which is why I haven’t even watched all the games and haven’t attended yet (likely going to BC Saturday) is just that between the transfer portal and our 0 commits, it’s hard to say that any “progress” we make is goint to directly transfer to next year. Sure it’s nice that Femi/Hugley are solid and getting Horton back but there’s 0 guarantee all three of those guys are back next year. And reading about the ‘22 recruiting is depressing. And trying to land high impact portal kids when you finish like 14th in the conference is like me trying to instagram DM supermodels. So yeah… I give props to all of you guys finding all these positives and I get into the games when they are actually on.. but it’s just hard for me to really get excited over this “progress” and moral victories against terrible ACC teams.

Wait, we’re not supposed to be DMing supermodels?

But I’ve posted that 50 times already.. my real ? Is how in the world is Mack flopping so bad at L’Ville ? He seemed like about as close of a guarantee there as you could get.

I think he may be turning it around. Just got a big time commit and look ok in Malik Williams’ 12th season. You have to remember how easy the Xavier job is as well.

If we lose all 5 with Horton back, does Capel get to coach another game?

Wow not sure I can be that optimistic. I see it more 1-4 over the next 5 with BC as the lone win. I think we caught VA on a bad day and they will be much better 2nd time around.

I have us losing to UL twice, but all the others the same. So, I have 2-3 in next 5.
We are 0-2, so your record would be 3-4.
