There's an update coming to the forums; it's nothing major, but it will allow forum email notifications (alerts when someone replies to a thread a poster has created or watched) to flow much more consistently.
A side effect of this update is that a whole bunch of posters are going to start receiving email notifications when they were not previously. That means you might start getting a whole bunch of emails, even if you didn't want to. You can configure/disable this in your forum preferences by clicking on your name in the top, right hand corner of the forum and going to the "Preferences" section, as shown below:
