Pitt QB commit Thomas MacVittie opened his senior season last night, and as you've probably seen, he left the game in a third quarter with an injury. Initial reports varied on the severity of his injury, but it sounds like it's not as serious as it could be. I've been told it's a mild PCL sprain - an MRI was analyzed today - and he will miss 3-4 weeks. The coaches and MacVittie are going to be conservative with his recovery, but it sounds like the expectation is he'll be back for Week 5.
Week 5 would be a big one, since MacVittie and Moeller will take on St. Xavier - with 2017 Penn State QB commit Sean Clifford - at Nippert Stadium (the U. of Cincinnatti's field). That week starts a run of big games for Moeller, so the goal is to have MacVittie ready to go for that stretch of games.
Before he got hurt, MacVittie completed 7-of-14 passes for 117 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed 13 times for 53 yards (4.1 ypc).
