Anyone watching on TNT? I missed the first game in the window because I was at the Pitt debacle.

How’s Derp?

McKennie➡️Weah➡️Dest➡️Balogun

Nice goal.

US wins 4-0.

Meanwhile, Mexico scores late to take a 3-2 lead over Uzbekistan, and then gives it right back in stoppage time for a 3-3 draw.

Seems like they should be just about ready to fire another coach, no?

I fell asleep when it was 2-0. The player I was most impressed with was Weston. His range of passing was and is so good. His long diagonal switches were spot on. It’s also having a nice option at the #9. Balogun a couple times now has shown the ability to clean up the garbage and out rebounds away. Pepi is improving it seems. Dest’s shot on that goal was a real cracker. I haven’t been on social media yet, but I’m going to imagine people liked that Lund dude at left back because he was threatening offensively the whole match. No one is going to displace Jedi, but he did look better going forward. At least for one game. But how is the position so thin that we need to flip a Danish dude who plays in Italy’s 2nd division (or wherever he plays)?

I watched the game, it wasn't too exciting, Oh man! Oman had like 5% of the possession :)

But there was this one conversation they had that I found interesting, they were talking about the USA "sporting director" who was talking about how he personally selected Berhalter as coach, and he said it was definitely the right choice, because they used a scientific, mathematical formula to select him and they were using that formula to select the next USWNT coach, WTF is that? Never heard of anything like that before?

Lund did play for the Swedish champs last year. He's more of a long term option I'd guess, 2026 is a long ways away and he could be in a better league by then.

Well I'm going to tell you something that is even more unbelievable. The "formula", or whatever you want to call it, that they used to determine that Gregg Berhalter was the best choice for head coach was devised by, wait for it, Gregg Berhalter.

Shocking, isn't it?

Interesting, I did not know that, I just thought the idea was somewhat unusual.

The three finalists were locked in a hotel for a couple days and had to present their “plan” as US Soccer wanted to see how it aligned with theirs. Guess who designed US Soccers’s plan? Yep Berhalter.

It’s like a professor taking his own final exam.
