Well, after losing to Saint Francis and The Citadel in consecutive openers nothing would be stunning, but without Hugley this UT Martin game looks like a toss up. I know there are many opinions on Parker Stewart, but he will be one of the 4 or 5 best OVC players and a great character leader. His body has also changed and so he can score many ways. This team also has the OVC Preseason Player of the Year in KJ Simon and some very good guards. I don’t feel optimistic, but I hope that I am wrong.

Can not start the season with a loss to this team.

Our veteran 5 need to play to their higher level. Our other four need not to hurt us.

Capel needs to be flexible with our style of play. No simply doing what we do.

Sagarin pre-season ratings predict Pitt by 17. However, that probability pre-supposes Hugley's availability.

On the other hand, I suspect if we are weak enough without Hugley to lose to Tennesse-Martin we probably wouldn't have beaten Clarion by 50 and Edinboro by 40. Those games would have only been 20-25 point wins, IMHO.

We shall see on Monday.

I think this is a very important post (and idea). Plain and simply, I suspect that most of the overall Pitt Hoops fan base is mostly low on the hoops team at the moment.

I know I posted previously that without Hugley, we could start 1-3 and that's counting a win on Monday. This team and this program needs a little jolt. I doubt there will be many in the stands on Monday (1,500?). A loss to start things will make it even tougher.

I can't say what I think of our chances Monday. For the overall sake of the program, I sure as hell hope it's a double digit victory.

If we don't win on Monday it is going to be a long, long season.

They were 8-22 last year, and two of the eight were Miami Hamilton, which I assume is a high school, and Carver, who I believe had to play without Coolidge because of injury.

Parker Stewart is back at UT Martin? Damn, that's a lot of transferring, though I understand about needing to leave UT Martin after his dad passed. I hope he has a great senior season (outside of our game) and can play professionally somewhere.
Parker left Indiana saying, "there is no f*cking way that I am playing another season with Xavier Johnson! F*ck that!!"

Will this game be on tv? Not sure I can get out of work in time to make the game

The Opening Tip
• Pitt opens the season Monday, Nov. 7 at the Petersen Events Center against UT Martin (7 p.m. - ACC Network Extra). Jason Earle and former Panther standout Julius Page will call the game for ACCN Extra.

Parker Stewart is an Academic
All Star, and that's selling
him short. He earned his
college degree in two
(YES 2 yrs). There were
semesters when he took
18, 21, etc credits. He
averaged 6.2 pts at IU
after averaging 19 at
UTM a few yrs. ago. I've
followed his career. He's
totally transformed his
physique. I criticized his
floor game at Pitt on here
more than any other poster.
He was a substitute at IU,
and he's now going back
home. He obviously can
shoot. Let's watch him and
see a much different player
than the skinny frosh with
only an outside shot, that
we saw here several yrs
ago.

BTW, I think he already has
his MBA. Amazing academic
record for an athlete.

Great post. Those academic achievements are remarkable. No Pitt fan has any reason to disparage him. And you are correct about his physique. I went to an IU game last year at Penn State and I couldn’t believe how strong he looked.

Just checked my tv and I don't think Fios carries that channel anymore

And you do not have to have the ESPN app to watch games.
You actually do because there is no separate ACCN app. ACCNX is just one of many subsets of ESPN. You can get ACCN on your computer directly but you have to access it through the ESPN app either on your smart tv, or mobile device. It’s free

Actually you don't. For instance I watch games on the ACCNX on my computer all the time, and my computer does not have the ESPN app on it. And if you use the link on Pitt's web site that will also not take you to an app, it will simply take you to the location on the web where you can watch the game.

For example, here is tomorrow's link, no app required

I said you don’t need it in your computer.

Well I said you don't need that app to watch the game and you said that you do. So it is good to see you coming around to the correct answer.

And what you said is "you can get ACCN on your computer directly", but we are not talking about the ACCN. The game tomorrow is not on the ACCN, it's on the ACC Network Extra. Those are two different things.

If one is not connected to a computer, a smart TV, a mobile phone, an iPad, etc., the game can be had on the imaginary SMF Network. If you can dream it, then....oh, never mind.

For Christ sakes. You can get accn extra on your computer by going to the ESPN website Or an app. You can go to the ESPN app on your phone or go through the internet browser you have and get onto ESPN that way. But if you have a smart tv you just use the ESPN app or channel that was provided for your tv. You cannot access accn extra through your tv or streaming provider on your accn extra channel. However you are getting accn extra you have to go through an ESPN wall to get there. End of story.
