Uh oh UVA down 11 early in the 2nd half and laboring really bad on offense.

-If they lose, they or their defensive style coach should never be brought up on this board again. I hate their style of play. Guy from Charleston, Grant, Hell no, Punt as a coach

-I dont even know who they are playing. The receivers? what the hell is that? And Katz said Virginia was calling them a YMCA team. Hahaha

which is worse? being a perennially bad team, or being a dominant regular season team that perennially chokes in the Big Dance?

seems like fans hate the team that chokes more than they do the team that never even makes it far enough to choke. Expectations are higher

-Perhaps. I just hate Virginia's style of play. I hate the Capitals trying to injure players on purpose constantly in the playoffs including the Penguins. Considering both choke, they go hand in hand.

This is stunning. UVA suffocates UNC, Duke and everyone else all season and now they are being run all over the floor by UMBC?

This makes the ACC look bad. UMBC is doing what most ACC teams couldn't do.

I always thought UVA was well coached but not extremely talented. This is different from the Capitals who do have talent but no heart

And Dixon got crucified for not blowing a 16 seed out of the water.....

UVA's biggest problem is they can't score.

Pitt was in real danger in that game, they could’ve definitely lost to East Tennessee St that day.

The #1 seeds with the high powered offenses rarely struggle against the #16’s, they score enough points that superior talent eventually takes over. The defense oriented #1’s that sometimes struggle to score don’t have the same margin for error.

-It happened to Uconn once too, I cant remember which year

I'd agree with that. It's happened quite a few times over the years. Off the top of my head though I don't remember a 1 seed ever trailing by such a large margin so late in the game.

UMBC also a -650 favorite to win outright.

I played UVA +450, seemed like a bargain.

Pitt was susceptible to the same thing. A team or a certain player gets hot, takes you out of your game, and you can't answer on offense.

Jairus Lyles is another Jamie miss. Was the SG with James Robinson and Anya at DeMatha. Was A10/CAA out of HS. I watched him play 1 game in that MLK weekend tourney on ESPN in Springfield and posted on this board we should offer him. Ended up at VCU then didn't play much and as all freshmen do who dont play 20 MPG, he transferred. Of all the trash we brought in, I cant believe we misevaluated this kid. He's averaged 20 PPG for 3 years

I think Purdue was a 1 and it literally went down to the wire with a 16.

Yep. They showed a highlight of that earlier. '96, I think? Western Carolina had a three to tie at buzzer. Showed a few others, too. Georgetown 50, Princeton 49. Couple others as well. Can't remember what they were off top of my head.
