UVA, what the hell

Why doesn't the article mention Mendenhall? He is the architect of the environment and while he may not of known of this specific event, he is completely responsible given the location and participants/leaders.

Other than the egregious issue of making players fight, it sounds like he wasn't a very good player. If he is too soft and can't understand the plays, how is that discrimination? They mention he had to eat by himself. Is it legally required that other players sit next to him in the cafeteria?

Again, other than the fight, this probably goes on in every locker room of ever sport in the country.

your argument falls apart with "other than the fight". The fight is the environment---lights, tape, "no phones" .....

Agreed. Sports bullying happens everywhere. But making players fight as some sort of hazing should not be tolerated. The kid was badly injured. There has to be multiple firings over this, including possibly Bronco Mendenhall.

I mean UFC takes a ton of precautions. Gloves, weight classes, matching fighters of similar ability levels. For UVa to stage a bare-knuckel fight, this is almost as bad as it gets.

Did you read the article? He is suing for a variety of incidents of different natures, including being discriminated against for his timid nature and supposed learning disability. Those additional incidents have nothing to do with the fight.

The lawsuit includes civil rights claims, as well as claims under Title IX and the Americans with Disabilities Act. It alleges Mr. Howard suffered abuse, harassment and discrimination.
Mr. Howard, who said he was diagnosed at Virginia with a learning disability, also alleges that he was bullied because he could not grasp the Cavaliers’ offense. Upperclassmen referred to Mr. Howard as “stupid,” “dumb,” “slow,” and “retarded,” the lawsuit said. Other players, with coaches’ knowledge, would ostracize Mr. Howard, forcing him to eat lunch and dinner alone, it continued.

I put a call into a UVA Booster he is every high on ethical treatment and told me how UVA President has Zero Tolerance for how Al Groh treated his Players and why he was told to go, it will be hard to see what he says now?

I put up an Article last week on how Mendenhall administered Discipline in ways to refocus control over his Players and how it differed from Coach Pat Narduzzi approach?

I mention this kind of Practice by Bronko may work in the short run, but in the long run caused Al Groh to be let go. This type of Manhood Code Red Behavior is not acceptable in Today's Social Media and why Leach and Mangino were fired at TTU & Kansas.

I suspect at minimum, there will be suspension and firings if not outright dismissal of Mendenhall if anything else comes out? President Sullivan is known for no nonsense after having to deal with "A Rape on Campus: A Brutal Assault and Struggle for Justice at UVA," Lawsuit a year ago and under Trial right now?

This led to more Title IX Investigations by DOJ as well that is still waiting for a findings dating back to Penn State Title IX Non-Compliance Scandal that is still pending publication?

As stated a number of time, this is a new Dawn of Society Values by Millennials Social Networking Media with Zero Tolerance on racism, sexism, bullying, and abuses that can go viral right away and leave an aftermath of Lawsuits, Society Debating, and even moved on to this years election shock, awe, and hypocrisy cutting both ways?

Not good for UVA or ACC or CFB?

But the article said they did more to him than call him dumb.
These are Title IX Violations and not just allegations, the University is acknowledging it as well, and I suspect it won't be defended, but settled, and UVA will hold some Employees accountable.

I suspect a call to Penn State Compliance and Athletic Integrity Office has already been made and adoptions of their Model Policies from Freeh Trustees Recommendations and Penn State University 2012 Reforms are about to copied?

I suspect a smart call to Philadelphia Pepper Hamilton now still doing the Baylor University Investigation and Reforms will be made as well.

UVA Athletic Director Littlepage a UPENN Graduate BB Player and Wharton Alumnus. I met him once at a UVA Alumni Booster Event in DC as invited by a UMD Professor. I will be in DC on October 25th with him again, it will be interesting to see what he knows by then and is very involved in UVA Athletics on Boosters Events ?

Littlepage has very quiet demeanor and now on Administrative leave on Family Matters on taking care of one of his elderly family member, and Jon Oliver is taking over this week?

This is not good news in any way for UVA Athletics right now. If it can happen at UVA it can happen anywhere?

The Penn State Scandal Reforms will be mention is my bet, but we shall see?

So I guess the trainer reported his broken face as football injury?
Cover Ups won't work anymore, they just get people fired.

While posting, my friend from UVA called, he says Sullivan is on top of it, and like Baylor individual employee rights will be respected due to Due Process Protections, but Zero Tolerance on any Abuse, Cover Ups, and False Reporting and the AD Littlepage Leave no longer looks like a coincidence. Will know more next week, on Tuesday but won't be back until Wednesday or Thursday from DC.

Just confirms Coach Pat Narduzzi's way of sleeping in the Dorm to know his Players Personalities, Limits, and Demeanor's and Bama's Nick Saban way of using Improv Exercises used on Autistic Children for his Players to add Eye Contact, Communication, and Body Coordination to focus on their play and observing other Players is the way to go.

Collaborative Coaching Players Innovations are far better than using Coaching Competitive Abusive Criticism & Conduct that demean Players with Fear instead of Accountable Encouragement.

The Age Of Abusive Coaching Is near an end and this Is not BCE (Before Common Era) Sparta!
