Yes, Fish did that with Rachel during her Freshman year.Am I crazy or didn't they kinda do that with Rachel her freshman year? Akeo was the other setter right

Well, maybe this is what Fisher is thinking? If it's workable, it wouldn't be a terrible idea.Rachel played 6 rotations and hit when she was in the front row that season. Akeo set and I believe Ndee was the right side when Rachel was setting.
Well, Texas won a national championship two years ago with 6 transfers, 5 of whom started. Their 2025 and 2026 classes both are rated very highly, and they signed Stafford and one other top player from the portal. So they don’t seem to be suffering from the reputation of over-recruiting.I don't disagree but as a coach, you don't want to get the reputation that you're over-recruiting and forcibly pushing people out all the time. We see that wearing thin at Texas, for instance, where they brought in a bunch of middles last year. Roster limits are also a thing.
And then they crashed out of the last tournament against a school that has almost no resources. I'm not saying that Texas is going away but Texas born girls getting nudged out of the program by transfers from powerhouses like VCU and Colombia might make some players think twice. I'd love to hear what made Averi Carlson go to SMU.Well, Texas won a national championship two years ago with 6 transfers, 5 of whom started. Supposedly, they have twice (if not three times) the NIL of any other program, and that will likely keep them at or near the top of volleyball programs.
Kiana Dinn is in the picture.....no sign of Dillyn Griffin. With the spring exhibition matches over......I thought it would be beneficial to start a new thread on the 'comings and goings' of how the 2025 roster will be filled out. To summarize......
Your thoughts on this.....and anything more from your perspective.....will be appreciated. Let's discuss.
- The spring portal opens on May 1st and closes on May 15th
- we are all wondering whether Kianna Dinn and Dillyn Griffin will enter the portal
- If they do....and end up transferring.....the roster slips to 11 athletes
- Fisher's usual roster size is 15 or 16 athletes.....4 or 5 players short for 2025
- A strong rumor is circulating that an international player from France will soon be announced......presumably an OH
- Dinn came in as a setter....and it wouldn't surprise me if Fisher tries to find another setter
- Griffin was a DS/L.....so a new replacement for that slot makes sense
- one rumor is that Izzy Masten.....a 2026 DS/L recruit....will reclassify to 2025
- To my knowledge she is just completing her junior year....I don't see this as a possibility
- We shouldn't rule out the possibility that a 2025 recruit who is just now graduating....but is not yet enrolled where they have committed....could flip to Pitt.
- I think this a remote possibility......but nevertheless....it could happen
- Bringing in 4 or 5 new faces (essentially 1/3 of the team) when the season is just 4 months away is a big deal.....but if any staff can pull it off I'd place my bet on Fisher, et al.
Still on the roster. Who knows?
A fascinating development. I could never figure out how this would happen because she is listed as a junior for her high school.....her club volleyball team.....and was recruited as part of Pitt's 2026 class. So it turns out she is skipping her senior year according to instagram. We'll hear more on this I think. In any event.....a 3rd L/DS makes a lot sense.
Highlights I’ve seen shows she’s a top spin server like Blaire and Olivia are. She should fit right in with fisher letting his servers be aggressive, she’s also only 5’8” and she played OH coming up so she can jump out of the room. Kinda reminds me of a Leketor member-meneh type player if used on the outside but should be a L/DS for PittHows her serve?
She also does a jump float. Mixes them up.Highlights I’ve seen shows she’s a top spin server like Blaire and Olivia are. Boy, was I wrong. Can only assume she has enough work completed to graduate. Entirely possible. Not sure I'd recommend this to a kid but I'd assume that she was told she would be contributing right away.A fascinating development. On Masten......I think the question will be how soon she can begin to practice with the team......so we wait to hear something official from the university and her appearance on the actual roster for the upcoming season. Izzy brings the L/DS position to 3 athletes which I like. Most of the top teams will dress 4 and sometimes 5 L/DS's. Last year PSU and Nebraska had 4.....Louisville had 5. Pitt had 3. Dupes (senior), Meyer (sophomore), and Masten (freshman) is a nice start.Boy, was I wrong. Can only assume she has enough work completed to graduate. Entirely possible. So, I don't see Dupes sitting. She didn't come to Pitt to just enjoy the ride. I'm thinking that it is quite probable that you won't see a 6-rotation OH this year unless, like I suggested earlier, Brooke Mosher plays OH/Setter. It was one of the bigger weaknesses I saw in the preseason so that would make the folks that didn't like the way Val or Torrey handled it very happy.
If she’s graduating, she could theoretically enroll this summer? On Masten......I think the question will be how soon she can begin to practice with the team......so we wait to hear something official from the university and her appearance on the actual roster for the upcoming season. I think Pitt will land another 1 or 2 OHs through the portal or internationally. Whether that will translate to a 6 rotation OH....too early to know. I think dressing 4 at the OH position will be the goal. Fisher, et al will figure this out....and I think we're going to be happy with this roster come August.
Yes.....'guilty' as chargedIf she’s graduating, she could theoretically enroll this summer?
I’m not too worried about the rotation but u was sort of assuming the motives for the urgency of another defensive player.
I was wondering how she had nearly 500 kills in one HS season but I see they play more games out there.![]()
Pitt Volleyball 2026 Commit Reclassifies to 2025
PITTSBURGH — The Pitt Panthers will have a volleyball commitment come earlier than planned, as she'll join the team for next season. Izzy Masten, who committedwww.si.com
I meant to say "I". Stupid phone.Yes.....'guilty' as charged![]()
That didn't take long.
How tall is she?Oh hell yeah, excited to read the scouting reports of the posters smarter then me on here
I seen here listed at 187 cm. About 6'2How tall is she?
I think the roster is at 15? I can't remember. Maybe someone for depth. Not sure serving specialist is a must. After Masten reclassing and Marina joining what else do we need? Another OH and maybe serve specialist if Griffin isn't with the team next season?
Skimmed through the video I shared. As one would expect from a French player, looks comfortable in serve receive. Didn't see anything defensively but like I said, I was skimming. Hitting looked better from the right side. Not impressive power (seems stiff through her hips) but seems to play smart. Knows when to use a push and go line and can handle out of system balls. Didn't see anything with her attacking zone 4. Again, skimming. Serve looked decent but more importantly, she looks to be very accurate. Had some nice zone 5 serves to the line side and she seems to be able to serve short. Her profile has her at a hair under 6'2" and I think her attack touch is listed at 10'4" which is exceptional.Oh hell yeah, excited to read the scouting reports of the posters smarter then me on here
So kinda in the VVG archetype? Comfortable in serve receive is bigSkimmed through the video I shared. As one would expect from a French player, looks comfortable in serve receive. According to her recruiting profile, her dad was a setter and her mom played OH so there is some pedigree although I don't believe either played on the national team or anything like that.
Yes. There are two this morning.another?????? Kellen just posted another tweet
Doesn't use the giant windup but then few players do.So kinda in the VVG archetype? Comfortable in serve receive is big
