She stinks. Only 47 assists over 4 sets?
Well.....Mick Haley....Six Rotations podcast would give a thumbs up to that. She stinks. Only 47 assists over 4 sets?
In all honesty, I wish she’d get national player of the year. But what’s the chances of that?
Really? That would be incredible. And well deserved.Well.....Mick Haley....Six Rotations podcast would give a thumbs up to that.
Well it’s certainly possible that none of our hitters are better next year because they won’t have Fairbanks setting to them.I rewatched the match yesterday, focusing on Fairbanks. She clearly is the key for this team. Some of the sets she makes are unbelievable. One play in the third set when Pitt was only up one illustrates that. The play apparently was set up for Babcock to get the kill from the back row on the right. The pass from VVG to Rachel though was way off. Rachel was in the middle of the first row. The pass was low and to her left. Babcock was on the right. Rachel dropped to her knees, then slid down the floor on her knees so she could get below the ball. While sliding to her left, away from where Babcock was, she then passed it, backwards and over her head at a 45 degree angle, perfectly to Babcock in the back row. There was no block because it didn’t seem possible that that was where Rachel was going, or could go, with the set. Babcock didn’t have to adjust her swing or her jump at all and slammed the kill into an empty area on the court.
For me, she makes Babcock and Stafford the overwhelming offensive forces they have become. She should be Player of the Year.
With NIL, we can’t know who will return next year, but Fairbanks will be by far the toughest piece of the puzzle to replace. If our OHs stay, we will be better there next year. If our MBs stay we will be better there next year. Klika is a solid but not irreplaceable L/DS. She is nowhere near the quality of Elena Scott or Rodriguez from Nebraska. I’m not sure how we replace Fairbanks though.
Rather than worry about losing players - I’d be surprised if we lost our stars - as long as Fisher is here top players will want to play for him- his recruiting speaks to this - the program is attracting the best of the best.Well it’s certainly possible that none of our hitters are better next year because they won’t have Fairbanks setting to them.
Which brings up another scary thought. The key to them staying might be whether they feel good about who is passing them the ball.

I think the big question for Haiti, coming back from injury, is will she be able to run a 5-1. Some of the rumored portal setters probably won't go to a program to just be a cog in a 6-2. I also think, with Liv and Torrey, Fish prefers a 5-1.Klika is a solid but not irreplaceable L/DS. She is nowhere near the quality of Elena Scott or Rodriguez from Nebraska. L/DS.....someone from the portal is needed to shore this spot up I think. Meyer could develop into another Klika....but that will take time....just like it did for Emmy. This is definitely an area of need for 2025. Setter....I believe Tautua'a is going to be a pleasant surprise going forward. A question there is complete recovery from her injury. Again....this is a portal need I think to shore up the position. We don't know nor have we seen anything from Dinn because she is injured to know whether she can be Rachel's replacement. I doubt Fisher can go into 2025 with both Tautua'a and Dinn coming off injuries and little experience.
