Wow.....this is a big deal! This news is as big as Stafford leaving Pitt......wonder how Flo Marie is feeling transferring from Miami to Florida.
Yeah - that’s really a tough pill for Florida .Wow.....this is a big deal! This news is as big as Stafford leaving Pitt......wonder how Flo Marie is feeling transferring from Miami to Florida.
Methinks Wisconsin will make a big play for Martin in order to replace Grace Lopez, who is out for the season with an ACL injury.Anybody monitoring flights to Gainesville?
Are there two Kellen Petrone tweets or just the one for the French player ?Anybody monitoring flights to Gainesville?
Just one. He replaced the first one that had the French flag with one without the flag. Are there two Kellen Petrone tweets or just the one for the French player ?
Got it - thanks !Just one. He replaced the first one that had the French flag with one without the flag.
Can we add Kennedy Martin while we’re at itWisconsin libero Lola Schumacher to the portal. Only a sophomore, Dupes is in her final year. I really like Mallorie, but too much is never enough, right?
There was some talk last night that Pitt could be on the short list but I doubt the source has any idea. Wisconsin isn't exactly deep at L/DS so it would seem there is a bit more to the story. Aniya Warren is coming in as a freshman, and by all accounts, is the top rated L/DS in the country.Wisconsin libero Lola Schumacher to the portal. Only a sophomore, Dupes is in her final year. Another L/DS would be fine with me.....now we have 3. Just for fun.....when I looked at the top 10 final teams from 2024....only Kentucky and Oregon.....plus Pitt....dressed 2 or 3 at L/DS. Other teams kept 4 or 5 at the L/DS position. I'll be very interested to see where Fisher, et al end up for the 2025 season. There was some talk last night that Pitt could be on the short list but I doubt the source has any idea. She actually resigned on April 6th. Her replacement was named that same day.Just saw that Creighton’s coach resigned on May 1. One of the nation’s top women’s volleyball coaches. Creighton has a very strong program which she basically built.
Timing seems strange, on the day the transfer portal opens, if she doesn’t already have another position lined up. So far, no reports of Creighton players in the portal.
^^^ The danger of believing what you read on the VolleyTalks boards. She actually resigned on April 6th. Her replacement was named the same day.
And to think.....out of HS.....CJ was considered as good....if not better than Babcock and Stafford. Martin will land at a top 20....if not top 10 team......automatically putting her new school in the national championship discussion.^^^ The danger of believing what you read on the VolleyTalks boards.
Without a lot of evidence, some there now believe that Kennedy Martin is headed for Wisconsin or PSU with Louisville a possibility.
After our match with them, some PSU fans said they expect two new opposites on the squad in August. It sounded like they knew who they were already, but I doubt that would stop them from going after Martin. They tried Jurevicious and another player against us and they combined to hit under .000. To me, Jurevicious is a very limited player. She only can hit from the right side and only from certain spots on the right side. She is at her best lining up to the right of the out of bounds line and taking a running start and spiking the ball cross-court. Trying to play OPP against us from the left, she was a disaster.
Why would we get an opposite when we already have the best one?
Our opponents' might need one.Why would we get an opposite when we already have the best one?
Wow.....Fisher will have to become a polyglot.......languages on this VB team would be English, Tongan, Dutch, French, and Romanian. I love it!Nothing from Kellen yet, but there's smoke out there that Dagmar Mourits of the Netherlands is heading Pitt's way.
2004 born. 6'1-6'2-ish.
Looks like Fish may have been tracking her since he coached the USA vs her Netherlands squad back in 2021.

Jurevicius was pretty weak until later in the season but it was her first year as a starter. I don't think anyone would look at spring season stats and get too excited over them. To be honest, none of their hitters looked all that impressive. Maybe they want to try Jurevicious at OH. They have plenty of littles so they could run two liberos, I suppose.^^^ The danger of believing what you read on the VolleyTalks boards.

Seems like we’re done. 2025 roster is set.I assume Fisher went scouting for an OH in Europe and found two. I wonder if European players still are prohibited from receiving NIL; probably not with the new settlement. But, I imagine they will be significantly cheaper than top college transfers.
That is a pretty good way of looking at it. I think it will take a few weeks for the team to come together. VB is a sport where you have to have a sixth sense about what is happening around you and players have to work together in ways that you don't necessarily see in a lot of other sports. Pitt has the guns up front to beat on anyone. Passing makes those players better and that is what has made Nebraska so good. Setting is easier when you have better passing. We'll see but I think this is still a top 5 program. I wouldn't be made if they didn't make the final 4 but it isn't unthinkable.Seems like we’re done. 2025 roster is set.
What do we think ? I don’t see any glaring holes on the roster. OH is probably the biggest question mark- guessing we need one of the 2 Euros to be immediate contributors.
we should be elite at opposite and at MB.
I’d say Ha’ti , Mosher , Blaire , and Dupes will tell the story of whether this an elite team ( legit final 4 type team ) or more like a top 10-15 team.
Izzy is a real wildcard- I think she immediately becomes the 2nd highest upside ( next to Babcock) player on the team - she might be that elite libero we’ve been missing and I’m curious if she sees OH - kind of a smaller uber athletic OH in the mold of Leketor.
Seems crazy to say - but we’re probably a little ahead of where we were last year at this time. MB was a serious question mark and Bre and Torrey were coming back from major injury.
With Babcock we have like the Tony Dorsett or Hugh Green of Pitt volleyball- simply the elite of elite player - . If I may draw a basketball analogy, we have the likely top pick in the draft surrounded by a bunch of 4 (Bre, Izzy , Ryla , Gregoire, Ha’ti, Mosher )and 5 star ( Blaire in particular) talents with a few wildcards . And players with with lots of experience.
preseason top 5 is probably a given .
I’m excited to see where this team goes - might be good to have a new cast without the same pressure I feel like last year’s team may have had with a chance to chart their own legacy.
