VB - Pitt At NC State

• Today.....1 PM.....on ACCNX. NC State is a middle of the pack kind of team in the ACC.
• They are 14 - 11.....and for the most part have been swept in 3 sets or lost in 4 sets to the better teams.
• Their OCC schedule was not difficult except for Creighton which whacked them in 3 sets. One of their best performances was just this past Friday when they took SMU to 5 sets before losing.
• Their RPI is 46 which is decent.
• They'll come in to today's match fired up but all Pitt has to do is play steady....no careless errors....and score their usual 18 to 19 points per set.
• Over the season....NC State knocks down about 17 points/set and gives back about 9 points/set from errors. Pitt sits at 19 points/set made and 6 points/set given back.....a 5 point/set advantage going into the match.
• NC State's hitting % is .217....Pitt .344.
• Nebraska took down Wisconsin last night in a 3 set sweep. I feel greedy today and would love to see another Pitt sweep to match Nebraska's last night.
• The Nebraska win last night kicked Pitt down a notch to #2 in the KPI.....would love to see Pitt back to #1 Monday morning.

Babcock leads the way, with 17 kills, hitting .577 with 8 digs, 2 blocks, & 21 points. Rachel Fairbanks leads with 33 assists, Bre Kelley with 6 blocks. Pitt had 7 aces, 4 in the 2nd set.
On to Louisville Wednesday night at 7 (ACC Network)! Win that, and they should be the #1 overall seed.

Great job taking care of business this weekend. I figure it will be around Tuesday afternoon that I'll start getting nervous about Louisville. Boy what a big match. I know at the end of the day there will still be a lot of volleyball to play after Wednesday's match, but geez Louise it would be sweet (and helpful) to beat them. In Fish, Liv, Torrey, Bre, Emmy, Rachel, etc, etc we trust.

Another excellent sweep and win. The only blemish was a very uncharacteristic 13 service errors. Pitt would normally only misfire about 6 times in a 3 set sweep......something for the team to focus on and iron out before the big match on Wednesday at Louisville.

Quite a few service errors from NC State as well. I wonder if the lighting or something tangible could be at blame for the number of errors?

Who knows....maybe....but an average of over 4 service errors/set like today is a recipe for trouble against a top team.
