Vegas Says

This is another one of those mythical lines that don't exist in the real world. There was no one, literally no one, who was offering Syracuse -6. Every place in Vegas that posted the game started it at either 3 or 3-1/2.

It actually started at 5 or 6 at several places, you nasty know-it-all.

No it didn't. Everyone in Vegas opened at 3 or 3.5. Offshore there was one spot (Heritage) that did post a 6, but anyone that plays there knows that most people had no shot at that number.

The 2 gold standards, Pinnacle and 5 Dimes, opened at 3 and 3.5 respectively. If you're looking at offshore odds on sites like Vegas Insider what you see isn't always accurate. Many offshore books deal 2 separate sets of lines, one for squares and one for their sharper customers. There's no way to know which set is being posted on those sits.

If I bet against Pitt I would take cuse today. Especially if I could get it at -3.

I really hope I am wrong, but it could get ugly.

Agree but Im hoping the OT win will provide a spark. They did gut it out and played some decent defense down the stretch. Artis seemed to come out of his funk a bit.

Not much of a margin for error now, they gotta get their stuff together.

The line started at 6 in some places like I said, but changed quickly. If the line indeed started at -3, then we would be a push or slight favorites on a neutral court. By the way - Lighten Up Francis.

I guess you're technically right since the OP's subject does mention Vegas. My offshore accounts definitely had it starting at or above 5. Not that I'd touch this one regardless.

I was wrong, and happy about it!

They are, at least for now, off life support.
yup Glad I was wrong as well. Cuse was playing darn well with the exception of the Ville game. Very nice win. Lets hope we look back at the 2OT wake game as a turning point. Seems like it certainly was for JROB and Jamel

For the record Syracuse closed as a 2 to 2.5 point favorite at most places in Las Vegas. It was far from the biggest game on the board, and Syracuse is a public team, so it's safe to say that it was sharp money that moved the number down.

A friend of mine at the Wynn told me a big casino player bet Syracuse big at -3. The fact that they closed at less than 3 tells you all you need to know about how money moves lines. This guys bet probably was bigger than their total handle on the game, but they still ended up moving the number the other way.

I heard that the vast majority of money came in today on Cuse, but I think your right, the people whose bets the books care about we're probably on Pitt, with the public on the other side.
