Very good article by Wetzel on PSU

Article is spot on.

"Again, Penn State chose to not pursue a legal course to attempt to establish facts and fight the charges. It has to live with it now. Barron’s defense is ridiculous. That Paterno is dead is not the fault, nor the burden, of the victims. That his family denied anything is immaterial, such a claim doesn’t even rise to the level of hearsay that would immediately be deemed inadmissible in court."

He makes an excellent point regarding the president's absurd statement.

When you pay victims millions of dollars to victims who are suing you for your culpability in their victimization, that is a tacit admission of guilt. And more importantly, you are paying hush money to the victims, because the settlements all included non-disclosure agreements.

The facts and the evidence in each case got buried, by design. Its the way the university wanted it. BTW, the nitters hate that they settled, but it was the best option. Had they fought each of the 20 odd victims in court, their would have been a never ending run of coverage in the media, with all of the sordid details revealed over and over and over again, over several years. And the allegations that Paterno told a few of them to shut up would've been out there too. Legal fees would've been in the tens of millions, and they would have still lost most of the cases. It would've cost more money, and tons more in reputational damage.

So the university buried the evidence with hush money to the victims, making sure that the cases never saw the light of day. They made sure the cases never got a chance to be proven. For the president to come out and say their claims haven't been proven, and to refer them as "rumor and innuendo", is truly unbelievable. My guess is that the president knows how foolish that statement is, but felt the need to stroke the anger of faithful with a 'fight back' message, because once again, they feel like the victims.

My guess is Barron knew his ass/job is on the line from the fervent masses in State College if he didn't come out and say something. So instead of "No Comment", you get the absurd denial of something that they already financially settled. It makes NO sense.

I'll say it again - PSU faithful clamored for transparency. They're getting it now. How's it go? "Be careful what you wish for."

Yes, they are being strung along by the Lubrano's and Zeigler's of their world. A thread on BWI shows a few of them saying they believe them when they say they are getting close to the goal line in clearing Joe's name.
They are pathetically hanging on to this false hope being propagated by their false prophets. Its all they've got. The only truth and transparency they are interested in is the non-existent mirage that will make this all go away, and brings Joe's reputation back to its former glory.

Right. The idiot Joebots were upset because UPS "settled" and didn't fight the Freeh report. At the time, sane people were stating that there must be more to the story, so UPS chose to try to end it as much as possible so more wouldn't come out. They got greedy and decided to sue the insurance company and it is blowing up in their faces right now. Barron is a moron. His statement sounded like a UPS fan trying to defend Joe and UPS.

These insurance companies would like nothing more then to have this case tried in public!
They have nothing to lose and a lot to gain.

I just hope that the upsers are stupid enough to take this to court!]

After all they wanted transparency!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Penn State Sues PMA Insurance Over Alleged Breach of Contract
March 6, 2013
Pennsylvania State University on Tuesday filed a lawsuit against Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association Insurance Company (PMA), alleging that the insurer failed to honor obligations owed to the school under comprehensive and commercial general liability policies...........According to the complaint, Penn State purchased CGL policies from Blue Bell, Penn.-based PMA for consecutive 12-month periods for over 50 years and paid “substantial insurance premiums” over those years. But when various individual claimants began to raise claim and file lawsuits against Penn State concerning Sandusky, “PMA failed to provide the coverage for which Penn State had bargained and paid,” the lawsuit alleges...........“Penn State will aggressively pursue the coverage for which it has paid over $23 million since 1983 and to which it is entitled.”The university said its relationship with PMA was terminated late last year, when Penn State cancelled its policies with PMA. The university also said one of the excess insurance carriers has also denied coverage. Penn State said it is “working with its other insurers in an effort to obtain their constructive participation with respect to the Sandusky claims.”
