It's good to hear this is moving along. We all talk about the importance of recruiting, and Gavin said Victory Heights will be a game changer.

Really didnt matter to my boys as they went to clubs in some rough buildings and grew up understanding its about the talent not the room, but many if not most of them want nice facilities and it is a factor in recruiting.
I agree. The Field House is much better now than when I went there, and I never thought it had any impact on how we wrestled or what I thought of the program.
But I’m sure there are those who see a shiny new facility as a measuring stick for how much the program is valued by the university. In that regard, if should be a big help.

Absolutely it is about the appearance of commitment to the sport. Kids don't want to be somewhere where their sport is a 2nd or 3rd fiddle afterthought, and I don't blame them...it's a sport they've dedicated their lives too. It is a first impression thing. They want to be somewhere they feel the sport is respected. That's true for any sport.

You have schools, even ones like Lehigh, that have dedicated wrestling facilities...just speaks volumes compared to the basement of the Field House. Not that the Fitz isn't functional, but it just doesn't scream "your sport is important here" compared to some other schools' facilities. So lets hope they get Victory Heights right.
