Vince Marrow

We would have to pay some bucks to get him but would be worth it.

Narduzzi should do what it takes to bring in Vince Marrow. He is an excellent recruiter and his daughter plays softball at Pitt. Mark Stoops is getting exposed at Kentucky and his seat is getting warm.

He would be the offensive version of Charlie Partridge. An AHC making $900k without being a coordinator is probably a good idea and use of funds.

The only issue is Michigan State was his second choice this past offseason and they would get out the checkbook again if Marrow became available.
We aren’t going to outbid Michigan State, and it’s probably the more secure job if you’re Marrow,

MSU is garbage this year and their division is extremely difficult moving forward. Being close to his daughter would be the biggest draw.

But so what?
Nobody cares that MSU is garbage this year. He took over a bad team and didn’t even take it over until the spring. This is a true Year Zero. Hell, it’s probably Year Negative 1. With next year being Year 0.

Between the state of the program when Tucker took it over, and the insane contract they gave him, it will be years before Tucker is on even a warm seat.

Whereas Narduzzi will go into next year on the hot seat.

If you’re Marrow, you aren’t taking less money for what could easily be a one year gig just to be closer to your daughter while she’s in college.

If MSU wins 1 or 2 games this year and then follows it by going 3-9 or 4-8 next year, then he will absolutely be on the hot seat. If you watched them play, then you’d know they aren’t good and his coaching is suspect. Narduzzi is more secure than what this board thought. Of course we’d have to pay him well.

Will Sparty have any $$$ left after paying the lawsuits and fines for the Larry Nassar atrocities?

He won’t be on the hot seat. They are paying him 5.5 million a year and owe him 85% of the contract if they fire him. They handed him a dumpster fire.
They are financially stuck with him, for better or worse, for a while, even after the excused wear off. And they aren’t going to wear off for a while.

Tucker is in a much more secure place than Narduzzi. Next year is make or break for Narduzzi.

Then we’ll have to agree to disagree. It is a coin flip as to who will last longer at their current job IMO.

That’s why you don’t wait until he becomes available. You go to him first and find out if he has interest.

And if he wants to leave, he won’t hit up MSU to start another bidding war? Is he stupid and without agent representation?

But it’s not. Michigan State isn’t paying 30+ million to fire Tucker in the next two seasons. That’s not an opinion. It’s just a fact.
Narduzzi will be on the hot seat next season. That’s not an opinion. He needs to have a good year or he’s probably gone.

iphone autocorrected tax payers to next payers.

Wow! Asking a LOT for innocent people to come up with $500 million. Gonna be some big time push back. Especially if folks see that they want to pay big bucks to assistant FB coaches.

You keep pushing the issue and obviously don’t know the difference between an opinion and fact.

Has the MSU OC been fired? If not, he’s going to reach out to them to tell them to fire him because Pitt offered him a job and to outbid them?

Huh? When you sue a public entity, the public picks up the bill. That’s why states have tort caps. I dont’ practice law in Michigan, so I have no idea what their ceiling is when the state is the tortfeasor. But I guarantee you they have some.

Tax payers don’t pay Mel Tucker or his assistant’s salary beyond a relatively small amount. Outside sources of revenue from private entities do that.

JMO, but I think MSU FB could be in for some miserable years for the foreseeable future. We’ll see.

I agree.
Hence why Tucker made them give him a contract they can’t get out of for a while.
Tucker and his agent weren’t stupid. They knew Michigan State has some bad years ahead of it. Michigan State knew that. That’s why Tucker rejected the job the first time. Then Michigan State came back with their tail tucked between their legs. Do people think Tucker just asked for the same conditions again? Hell no. He basically made himself fired-proof for the first part of the contract if they wanted him to join this dumpster fire.

Wut? Pitt is offering a glorified recruiter the OC job In your hypothetical?

I think the whole thread is stupid and hypothetical, because it’s filled with assumptions and no facts.

What I’m saying is if you have interest in someone don’t wait until they become available. Reach out to them first. If they want schools to go into a bidding war, know what you are comfortable offering. If it goes over that, move on. That includes money and actual job.

Tucker is highly likely to last longer but I don't think pn gets fired if he goes 6-6 or better next year. He likely gets to 6-5 this year, not what everyone was hoping for but not a disaster either. I think chances are if pitt goes to a bowl game he will be back. If they go 4-8 he will likely be gone. So chances are the new oc likely gets two years which is about as long as most stay at a spot

I say let’s get him. If we get him and Fickell leaves we will get the best players in Ohio Ohio state and Michigan don’t want.

Mel Tucker is going to flame out in Michigan State quicker then @VJJPUNISHER rips on our players!!

Narduzzi beat Louisville and smoked FSU and Virginia Tech.

Narduzzi is not on a hot seat, nor will be.

Next year is make or break for Narduzzi with a dumpster fire at QB. You’ll keep pretending like anybody is going to care about wins over a bad Lville, VT, and FSU team.

Here is how I see it. If he had went 4-7 like many were saying a few weeks ago he was likely gone after 2021 barring a unexpectedly good year. Probably would have had to get 8 wins. But with the bounce back I think he gets 2022 as long as next year isn't a disaster. So 6-6 probably even 5-7 and he will be back in 2022. Pitt won't want to pay the big buyout and a mediocre year won't force them to.

I know the entire MSU athletics department certainly has some major issues it is still trying to recover from, but based on what I am seeing this season from the Big 10 East behind OSU, it's hard for me to think it's a given that Michigan State is going to be really bad for years to come. I could see any of the Big 10 East teams putting a decent season together at some point, MSU included.

There are some people in this thread looking even dumber today than they did last week arguing about Mel Tucker’s job security...

I don’t think Narduzzi would go for this, but pay him more, and give him the title of OC/Assistant Head Coach. And then if HCPN is fired after next season, he could be a candidate for Head Coach.
That and his daughter here, might make it worth it?

Narduzzi will not bring a coordinator that he views as a threat to his job
