Not sure if this has been discussed yet, but 8/31 lines started to pop up at a lot of places yesterday.

I don’t think this number will really surprise anyone, most probably expected Virginia to be a slight favorite. If it gets to 3 I would think Pitt is definitely worth a play.

Pitt is plus 135 on the m/l here in lv. I think the public will tllt that to 150 by August. I will take it either way. Uva will be a preseason darling coming into this one and will get smacked by our d.

Where are you seeing that number? I would be interested in taking some +135.

Obviously the wise guys didn't consult the Lair--where 9 wins this season is a virtual lock.

Who needs an offensive line and a QB anyway?

Is Virginia returning a lot of starters? I thought I read it lost some good players along its O-line.

I don't recall the Cavs having skill players that strike fear into the opposition. It did seem to have lots of douche-bag type players on defense, which made last season's win that much better.

Their QB was HM All-ACC last season and will probably be 2nd team preseason behind Lawrence. I think his top WR that caught a couple long passes against Pitt last year is gone.

Can UVA spread us out and do they have a QB who can throw the ball? If the answer is yes, then take UVA. If it is no, then take Pitt.

Perkins is probably the 2nd best QB in the ACC but Pitt has beaten some sound QB’s in recent years including this one. I believe the defense can be stout, this game will be determined by Kenny, Whipple, Borbs and Beatty.

As worried as I am about what kind of season Pitt will have, I can't accept that Virginia is suddenly going to be that good.

Yea, I'm not worried about this game. If we cant beat Virginia at home to start the season, we are in trouble. I dont think after all these years, you can just count on UVa to just roll into an away ACC stadium of a like school and win a big night game

Well the Oline may be an unknown but but that doesn't mean they will stink. I expect the QB to be a nice surprise now that we have Whipple on board. And there is great hope that the defense may be dominant.

I actually cant wait for this game. I am tired of playing the little sisters of the poor to start each year and it gets my hopes up every time. It will be interesting to see how we start out of the gate in the first game of the season with a game that matters.

Hey Vince Lombardi-

Same QB beat them on the road last year.
Same QB that threw for 61 yards against UVA last year?

Thanks Bear Bryant--now tell me how it's gonna go this year when we have an unproven O line, unproven RBs and a QB who to this point in his career has struggled--to be generous to Pickett--against a rising UVA team that has improved every year under Mendenhall and that returns 15 of 22 starters?

See where maybe nobody should be surprised or put out that UVA is a slight favorite preseason in Vegas this year?

It’s a toss up game, no doubt.

But we beat them last season, with the same quarterback, and a defense that was just starting to find its footing.

The original post, which you quoted didn’t say “we are going to pound UVA”. Just said Pitt plus 3 might be a play.

Their dual threat QB returns, but like what we saw in last year's matchup - if he's forced to throw, he isn't very good. I see the game playing out much similar to last season, I like us by two touchdowns.

I'm not a Pickett Stan but let's be fair. It was pouring down rain, on the road, on a Friday....and UVA's world-beater QB only went for 200 yards on 24 attempts against us.

So uva is the clear favorite in the Coastal and only giving 2 to a team with no qb, no offensive line who’s over/under wins for the season is 5.5.

Doesn’t say much for what the betting world thinks of uva.

Context. He’s saying we have no QB this year how can we beat them. When we beat them last year, on the road, with the same QB
The context that our best offensive weapons are gone and the oline is turned over?

Unless either the offense surprises-
Or the defense finally rises above mediocre -

I see a bowl less season.

Just isn’t enough talent on the roster

????????????

I’ve made no comments on the season. Just that asking how we can beat them, with this quarterback this season when we beat them with this quarterback last season seems odd to me.

People like UVA to win coastal cause everyone else is an unknown and they have a decent returning QB. that's it. They have a QB that was good last year and is coming back, everyone else in coastal is a guess. That's the depth of these predictions.

Why? Pitt beat them down there by 10. Did they get better and Pitt worse? I believe Pitt is much better, more athletic and faster then they were last year, Pickett????

not a betting man but when I see a spread like -2, I think it makes more sense to just take the underdog even and bet the odds. not sure what it is, probably something like +125(ish). Chances of pitt losing and still covering are slim vs winning outright.

That's my thoughts anyway but taking gambling advice from me is equivalent to throwing your wallet into a lake..
