Volleyball moves to Sweet 16
last night with a 3-0 spanking
of # 14 Utah (Pitt ranked at #19).

Coaching matters! Coach Fisher
has his team not only ranked, but
also undefeated this spring. I
like what I see from coaches in
volleyball, baseball, and soccer.
These coaches all have their
teams ranked at this time.

Pitt athletics looking good right
now.
SMF, it's time for you to chime
in with your usual nonsense of
why only football and basketball
matter.

Ended disappointing last year but proving they are real program.
Softball seems one of the few misses and that one was further along to start.

Here's the problem. As these other programs see their operating expenses increase as a result of success, the additional operating funding will need to come from somewhere. So if football and basketball aren't increasing their revenue as a result of more ticket sales, then how are these programs going to be funded?

Answer IMO.
Since joining the ACC, Pitt
has gotten more $$$ from
that affiliation. I feel that
this has enabled Pitt to do
more with upgrading both
facilities and the coaches
salaries in these minor
sports.

You're right about Softball. I
never understood why they
made a coaching change with
that program. Maye someone
on here can enlighten us.

How are the operating expenses going to increase by any significant margin because the team is successful? Does the bus company charge the soccer team more to bus to Syracuse if the team is really good? Or if they are in the top ten are they required to stay at the Ritz-Carlton rather than a Holiday Inn? Will the volleyball team demand steaks from Morton's every night at the training table since they made it to the Sweet 16?

Maybe I'm wrong, but didn't Pitt's coach leave for Louisville a few years ago?

How absolutely priceless would it be,

If Volleyball and mens soccer were to win national titles in the same year?

Just a few weeks before, our illustrious SMF crying the Memphis blues about shutting down all non revenue sports.

That scenario would be gold.

Aprile left for Louisville because while she was having probably our best softball season ever, her contract was coming due. Holly wanted an extension and Heather offered her one year. Holly decided to bolt due to the lack of confidence.

Yeah, I kinda thought there
was more to her leaving. She
had the team and the program
in better shape than it is now.
Even though this thread is about
non football and basketball
coaches and how well they're
doing, softball is not one of
those programs having the
same or simiiar level of
winning success.
