Our country would pick Conner in a landslide if this vote was put before them.
You have been living abroad for the last year, correct? Our country would pick Conner in a landslide if this vote was put before them.
Seriously it is obvious to us and he's got my vote but Sidney Crosby didn't have a bad year either. There has seldom been a more obvious choice than Conner...
... which is why it will end up being Leveon Bell, Sidney Crosby, or Mike Sullivan.
Ummmm......except Sid won a Cup, an MVP playoffs, the World Cup of Hockey and its MVP and is currently leading the NHL in goals. So....not a "slam dunk".
Voted Crosby 50x. Go pens

How is the winner determined? I assume it's not only the public voting that determines the outcome. I figured the public voting is really click bait more than anything. Maybe a % of public voting contributes to the decision?
I think the point here is the same argument as always. there are going to be a lot of fans who follow the Pro teams more than Pitt which may result in a different vote than we would like to see. That's life in a multiple pro town for a college program. All due respect to Sidney Crosby, Conner overcame cancer, broke the ACC touchdown mark and did yeoman's work in the cancer community in and around Pittsburgh, as well as nationally. Crosby's accomplishments dont come close
For me voting for James was easy. Easier than picking the female since I literally have not heard of any of them.Vote for James Conner for Dapper Dan Award. Also, Jenna Potts is a Pitt Volleyball player.

Tell that to The Fan and Ron Cook. You'd have to hold a gun to their heads to vote for Conner.
Wow! You must be from Detroit.I kept logging out and I voted 5 times!
Yes but JC isn't getting paid hefty amounts of $$$ to represent his school or city. JC is a great national story as well inspirational to us all. These pro players have seen enough awards thrown at them already.I think the point here is the same argument as always. there are going to be a lot of fans who follow the Pro teams more than Pitt which may result in a different vote than we would like to see. good for you?? Im sure you like Joe Paterno too... big deal
Crosby didn't come close? So breaking the ACC touchdown mark is a bigger accomplishment than winning the MVP of the playoffs, and championship, also the MVP of the World Cup, and right now leading goal scorer. Again, Pitt fan math. Pitt goes 8-4, it is a great season. Penn State goes 8-4, they are "irrelevant".
Yeah the cancer thing is pretty big, but Sid has had his own health issues that they overcome.
More people know who Sid is than James Conner.
Don't argue with me. Argue with the more casual Pitt fan who will vote for Crosby or some other pro. My vote is already in multiple times for James.Yes but JC isn't getting paid hefty amounts of $$$ to represent his school or city. JC is a great national story as well inspirational to us all. Not arguing with you and I know your a true blue Pitt fan!!!! Merry Christmas WbrDon't argue with me. Argue with the more casual Pitt fan who will vote for Crosby or some other pro. My vote is already in multiple times for James.
ummmm.... noooooooo.... I mean, I guess you are joking? Or not in the christmas spirit today, but I think it is painfully obvious to anyone who doesnt have shit between their ears that I was referring to his battle with cancer and spurring on a nation. But, hey, Crosby flipped some rubber disks into a net... cool.
Whatever... to be honest, I could so care less who wins the Dapper Dan award. It makes zero difference. If they want to pick Joe Paternos dead body, that is fine with me. So, arguing about it on a Pitt message board makes me want to lapse into a coma. So, if you want to Crosby to win, then vote for him. The Penguins dont have any enemies in the city, so he may just win.
I am just saying it is a year where there are definitely multiple deserving candidates. Pittsburgh Magazine just named the Penguins as "the Pittsburghers of the Year". Not saying it is right or wrong, but they did accomplish something special this year. And Sid specifically has come back from some serious health issues. Mario Lemieux had Hodgkins and came back and led the league in scoring in 1993. Dapper Dan Man of the Year that year? Jay Bell. Go figure.
Lol le'veon bell? I'm a fan of all Pittsburgh teams, but seriously!? What has bell done other than smoke weed and run for a lot of yards? I love le'veon bell, but multiple suspensions should disqualify him from this award. There has seldom been a more obvious choice than Conner...

Spurring on a nation? That's maybe a stretch. Eric Berry has likey had a more national impact.
