They remind me of our program when Howland took over. They were not a good team when Buzz got there, but he has them on the verge. They play so hard, and u can see their program is about to take off. They will probably make a deep run in the NIT, and next year will be a tough out.

12 years from now, they will be a bubble team that sucks at defense.
I'm curious to see how long he stays there. There was some article posted a couple of days ago that had him listed as a candidate for just about every relevant job available.
If OKST becomes available, for instance, I could see him going. From Texas, went to Oklahoma City University, tons of financial backing, some solid history.
Then again, he does have a solid team returning. He didn't bolt Marquette until he had kind of a rough roster returning and a bit of a rebuild ahead.

Va Tech and Ga Tech both are playing well and it was just our luck that we had to play them on the road. Buzz won't be in Blacksburg long. Wonder what happened up in Marquette for the almighty to leave? He did have a lot of success there but went 17-15 in his last year. Strange.......

There were always rumors he didn't like the AD, and I think he was struggling to get kids by the end. He didn't have a guy on the roster over 6'6" or something like that by the time he left. Lots of JUCO guys as well, which doesn't seem to be his preference.
Buzz is building a house currently in Blacksburg. That seems a bit more committed than I previously thought.
Probably needs a bid at least before jumping again. Besides,not too many attractive jbs opening this off-season.
Besides, building a house gives his wife something to do in Blacksburg. Coming from rural Texas to the mountains of Virgina may not be that much of a culture shock, but still, building a house will keep her busy.
I dont think its that much of a stretch to say that RIGHT NOW, VT is the 3rd best team in the ACC. Not 3rd best resume, but as we stand right now, I think only UNC and UVa are clearly better.
I was there last night and they are impressivem. They have no seniors and could be like a 2 or 3 seed next year, like what Miami is doing this year. And I know VT has a lot of DC alums but man was that a home game last night. VT brought far more than any of the other 7 teams. They were loud and they were drunk. The funny thing is I didnt get the sense they knew much about the team but they showed up in large numbers.
