So of the 5 or 6 listed, 3 would start in your opinion? I really don't see a big difference in playmaking ability from their front 7, the back end is a different story, with the exception of Whitehead.
Yes - 3 would start for them. We are lacking talent on defense.

No doubt about it. Depth is also a real concern. With starters in Hendrix and Zeise going down early in the season, there have only been serviceable replacements at their respective positions. Narduzzi looks like he is bringing in some great young talent, which hopefully shows up next year.

Guess what? You are no longer considered a guru when you do that.
Not true Rich rod did that at wvu went 3-9 his first year with a team that probably should have been 7-5 or 8-4. There are two schools of thought on that one is do what you can but adjust to suit what you have and the other is to install the system and deal with what happens until you get the players needed. DW did basically the same thing which is why he went 5-6,6-6 and 5-7 his first three years. He refused to run a offense similar to what WH ran.

1. Dave Wannstedt is not anything resembling a guru.
2. That is not a guru. That is a system guy.

If you can only run a particular offense or defense, no matter the personnel, you are not a guru. You are a stuck in system guy. Nick Saban, for instance, has changed his approach on both sides of the ball over the last few years to keep up with the current game. Why? Because winning is far more important than his system or preferences.

Gus Malzahn has changed his offensive and team philosophy to adapt to his team this year and probably save his job.

I gotta ask.........

By saying Pitt has winning records you seem to be defending mediocrity. If so....that's your choice.

But when some Pitt fans still demand excellence........those that have surrendered to being average (and by your statement that includes you).....feel the need to lash out at someone who expects more.....

This fan base needs MORE fans like poker......and less sheep that settle for average.
Yea the fan base needs more fans like Poker, off the cuff, emotionally stunted, self loathing yinzer.......why does everyone assume people are settling for average? Because we don't fly off the handle after every situation?
