Let me preface this by saying I am a four seat season ticket holder and I will be at State College this weekend and we rented a house there since no hotels were available. It is going to be an extremely expensive weekend but I am a diehard Pitt fan.

I just see no way for us to win. They are better than us everywhere. Our best safety and player is suspended. We lost a star RB, QB, DE, and two OL to the NFL, among many other losses like our entire defensive line for one reason or another. We lost the best Offensive Coordinator in the country. Our QB is silently being considered a potential 8 to 10 year starter in the NFL and if they re-drafted today, he would be a 1st or 2nd rounder. Our new QB led USC surrounded by talent to a 1-3 record where they got shellacked by Alabama by 46 and lost to Utah and Stanford squads much less talented then they. There is no coincidence that USC took a 180 after they got Browne out and put a freshman in. Browne might be big and able to throw the ball far, but he isn't a great QB. He may not even be a serviceable QB. I am actually fully expecting Dinucci to be in by the second half.

This is NOT last year's team. We are too young, too inexperienced, and we are playing in front of 100,000 middle state weirdo cult members that are going to be loud as sh!t. Unless another 13-9 miracle happens, I see myself drinking my sorrows away by mid 3rd quarter in some pasture. Yippy.

i did not recall saying that now did I and I believe I also stated that Darnold was great but that did not mean Browne sucked..... Besides how good could have Penn State have been if "we" (now who uses that "we" stuff all the time?) an awful Pitt team, beat them?.... now, back to your booze.

Yes on paper they are better than us and yes there's a strong chance they have our number, but the games are played on the field. We've pulled some big upsets (13-9 game, Clemson game), and we've been upset (Toledo, Bowling Green etc etc). Anything can happen. Part of being a fan is having hope and pride that your team can overcome big obstacles. Here's hoping for the best. Go Pitt!

Definitely not positive! Could be realistic. But not cast in stone. I'm not sold on Browne either but maybe they have bigger surprises on Offense they're saving to try to get a jump on PSU like the last game. Perhaps, like Wannstedt in the 13-9 game, Narduzzi has a complete 180 scheme on Defense planned (like Wannstedt, he's never deviated from his base until now). Maybe PSU will miss a bunch of FG like WVU did. Something that will discombobulate PSU's enough to allow us to stay competitive long enough in the game that we are in position to win late. It isn't likely. But it wasn't likely then either.

I am fully expecting you to do an "I told you so" repost on Monday if Pitt loses. On the flipside, if Pitt wins, I expect you to crow about it to PSU fans and never mention this post again.

I don't think Narduzzi is incompetent like Foge or Hackett. That was the only time going into a Pitt-PSU game I really felt there wasn't much chance. He has been competitive in every game, although there have been tendencies to let off the gas a bit or not taking a weaker opponent seriously.

I don't think the game is a blowout. Pretty good chance we don't win, but still think it could be a good season in the Coastal. May be like a 42-35 game for PSU, but with a few breaks and inspired line play, I could see it going like 35-31 for us.

How was Darnold this week? Oh, sweat it out against Western Michigan? Darnold zero pass td, two int, -6 rushing 1 rush td. Got it. Perhaps USC just isn't as strong as people want to believe? Or perhaps stuff happens and fair or unfair there are winners and losers.

I think Pitt will score its share, I just don't believe the defense is up to the task. Would take a big injury to Trace or Barkley to tip the scale.
