It was good to meet a lot of the Pitt fans and alumni from the Dallas/Ft Worth area at the game. However the best part is talking to the parents of the players. They are all class people.

Fans forget that the parents of the players live and die with every play, especially involving their kids. They hear the ridicule and the venom at the games and on message boards. TD and Bill Fralic was at the game. Fralic made it to the alumni tent and said hello to everyone. Also, Palko, Bostick and Pettiti was there as well.

The Oklahoma St fans were a class act. They need to be treated well when they come to Pittsburgh. I can't tell you how many OKST fans came up to me and said "Welcome! Thanks for coming to the game! Good Luck today!"

You are spot on. Was invited as well to stop into a tailgate by the stadium while looking for the head. Class class class people. Talked with Pettiti who is coming to the VT game. He looks like he could still play and his wife is like 6'1". I told him he could create some pretty big lineman to play come play for us. Also met Chantez Moss' parents. Great people. In fact all the parents and Pitt fans sat together and had a great time. Their stadium looked bigger than the announced 53,000 fans. Great sound system. They play very similar music that we play as well. If we had a stadium like that no me would be always complaining about the empty seats as we would look mostly full as well.

I spoke to Chantez Moss' dad as well. Very nice guy. Loves Narduzzi. Spoke to Blewitt's parents and found out Chris has had tendinitis in his plant leg. It's been bothering him since training camp. I was standing next to Nate Peterman's dad when Nate threw the interception to end the game. I shook his hand and he politely said to me "I'm sorry". That tells you how much these parents live and die with every play.

I can't say enough good things about the OSU fans.

Will add to your post. I second your comments about the OKState fans--simply some of the nicest and welcoming fans I have ever encountered on the road. They have every reason to be proud of their school and facilities. Their football practice facility across from the stadium is really impressive. I was actually a bit surprised that there were not more people at the game...the color seating and the fans "striping" efforts did a very good job of hiding many empty seats. The place was pretty empty after the lightning delay. Otherwise, other than the University, Stillwater is pretty much a chain restaurant town with over-priced down-stream hotels. But the people and hospitality shown more than made up for it. Steven Adams was also at the game, but was a bit hard to recognize from his Pitt playing days with the really long hair, beard/mustache, and new tattoos. Other than the game, it was a great road trip. Hope to see even more Pitt fans down for the game in Chapel Hill! Hail to Pitt!

Glad you guys enjoyed yourselves. That was a good, fun football game to go to. Good luck the rest of your season and I'll see you in Pittsburgh next year.

Interesting comments. Sounds very much like my many experiences at ND when I've been there for the Pitt games over the years. Extremely well treated everywhere we went on campus. In fact, in all of the many college football environments I've experienced across the country, ND has been the most gracious. The two worst groups I've encountered as a visiting fan have been Michigan and Ohio State, respectively.

yet ND as an institution and its real fans are trashed mercilessly by a lot of the geniuses on this board. Granted the Walmart Irish fans are garbage, as the subway fans of all major programs generally are, but you don't see those fans on campus on gameday. You see the actual ND students, employees and alums.

Go figure.

Well and that is the problem. People trashing them are only interacting with those Walmart fans, not the alumni.

The interesting thing about the atmosphere is that the fans were very loud but at the same time not very rowdy. As a matter of fact, I don't think I saw or heard a single fan yell much, and I definitely did not see any drunk fans. Even the tailgates were lively affairs without a lot of ruckus.
