Was WLAT a Savant ?

Have heard from some that he's basically a Savant when it comes to coaching the passing game.
 
I don't know? I'm not a special education teacher and I am wildly unqualified to make such diagnoses.

He was a very good offensive coach, I do know that. But I don't think he was like Rainman or anything insane like that.
 
Most likely he was not and his successs would have come from copious amounts of study and manipulation.
 
Two back to back Blienolf Award winners and a soon to be NFL Hall of Famer. Personally, I thought what he did molding Rod Rutherford was his greatest achievement.

Boomer Esiason, after a decade with the bengals, good success, was coached by Walt with the jets, and he said he learned stuff that he never knew.

Strong quote by an NFL veteran qb. Walt is a great passing game / qb coach... or was at least. Nothing but fond memories from me. His agent had some crappy quotes but water under the bridge.
