--Had forgotten just how many fumbles we had and almost lost. Chad, Nathan, and Avonte all fumbled.

--George Aston and Brian O"Neill alertly recovered QB fumbles and Avonte recovered his own.

--Aston is playing really well. Besides recovering a fumble, he made key blocks, caught a pass for a 1st down, and played on special teams (saw him make at least one tackle on kickoff coverage...)

--We're still forcing the ball to TB, even when he appears to be double teamed... Challingsworth finally got a pass!

--Watching the replay, the offensive line played better than I had thought when watching in Akron. O'Neill looks like he's going to be good, but he's still somewhat raw. Only saw him have one really bad attempt at pass protection, where he just got run over. (The announcer said that one of Akron's DEs was a transfer from Ohio State.)

--Artie played better than I had thought. In Akron, seemed like every time I noticed him he was being pushed back into the backfield.

--Lots of coaching to do this week... Maybe the extremes of weather in the first two games will have helped stress-test the team and if they get a dry, partly-cloudy, 72 degree day in Iowa, everyone's play will pick up...

Go Pitt.

And the difference in the 2 qbs are not that great. Nate threw 2 nice passes to our TE, one for a TD and one to help set up a TD. Both passes could have been thrown by Chad had he been in there. He also threw a couple off really bad passes. The staff is on the right track. Keep playing both till one clearly separates from the other.

Re your first point: with the tremendous exception of Connor going down, Narduzzi has gotten significant breaks in both games so far. Fumbles not lost, the big Orndoff catch, Maddox KO return after bobble, broken plays that allowed Ollison to rumble, the mysterious decision by Akron to keep using Chapman when the other QB was better, and even the benefit of some really dubious penalties against Akron. We usually NEVER enjoy such breaks. So maybe Duz is one of those "lucky" coaches that we've never seemed to have.

If I'm not mistaken, the other QB was rotated into the game in the first half and, again, with of plenty of time remaining in the second half before being badly concussed by a Galambos hit.
