Watching Pitt’s bigs under the hoop bringing rebounds down to waist level where they can be tied up or stepped of the ball by shorter players. Bigs should never bring a rebounded ball down where shorter players can grab it. Don’t the Pitt coaches emphasize this with their posts? What I saw makes me wonder.

Did a better job of keeping the ball high in the 2nd half. However they lost because they only made 2 of 21 3s and Cuse made 13 of 32 3s. Pit had 21 more rebounds.

Yes, 2-21 threes. That's 9.5%.
Cuse was 40.6% on their 3's,
40.3% FG's., and 100% Ft's.
Needless to say, they could
shoot.

I thought this was a game we
could win as they were at 1-6
in ACC play and we were 2-7.
Our advantage was inside, and
at times we took advantage of
that, but not frequently enough.
The difference in floor play IMO
was the real differrence in this
game. We reverted back to our
old TO problem...22 to be exact.
More to that point....They had a
21/16 Assist to TO ratio, while we
were terrible with a 12/22 ratio.
THAT in itself is a killer.

Another thing that I thought
(mistakingly) would help us
was their coach from last year
was forced to resign because of
certain allegations. This was
followed by 12 transfers. Those
transfers included their bigs.
One of them was 6"7" and could
play.

Cuse was very well coached today.
Those stats don't happen by
accident.

—Jayla Everett seems to have gone from Pitt’s best offensive player to an offensive liability.

—I like Liatu but she would have had 2 or 3 easy layups if she could use her left hand. She should be able to do that by now, I would think.

—Rita continues to rush her shots - why can’t they get her to go up and then shoot versus shooting as she jumps…

—Very discouraging loss. Coach White needs to re-think how this team plays offense. It’s painful to watch all the self-inflicted turnovers and wasted possessions…

Go Pitt.

Like the men, this team doesn't shoot threes anywhere near well enough to be taking 21 of them in a game. I mean if someone comes out hot from three then sure, go ahead and keep shooting them. But Pitt came out ice cold from three and kept firing them up anyway, on a day when they had a huge advantage on the inside.

That’s true enough. However, it wouldn’t have mattered if Cuse had shot 3s the way they usually do (it’s not 13/32 like today) or Pitt made even a reasonable 5 or 6 of its 21 3s.

Was it Liatu who got hurt at the end of the game? Looked like a knee—hopefully not a season ending ACL tear.

Yeah, it was King and yeah, it looked bad.

It seems like non-contact injuries like that almost always end up being bad.
I tore my ACL in college. It
also was a non contact type.
When they showed the
replay today, I mmediately
thought ACL. She was in a
lot of pain, and an ACL tear
is as bad as it gets. I hope
I'm wrong and it's something
else.

I must have put the jinx
on Strother. I posted the
other day that she could
shoot and hit the open 3.
Well, 2-11 on threes, and
all 11 were threes. For the
most part, no floor game.

Yes, we had a "huge advantage
on the inside." We started the
game looking inside, and both
Ezeja and Ibokwe looked good.
To me, that should have been
the gameplan.
