I know his reputation is being good at calling plays that hide a QB's deficiencies but is anyone else having Matt Cavanaugh flashbacks?

Pickett is throwing out after out without effectively throwing any corresponding slants that you typically see in the west coast offense. Like many have said, the situational play calling doesn't make much sense. Even the play trick plays feel misplaced.

The best comment about the last game was " I think he's using a magic eightball to call plays ".

He had Pickett moving around more yesterday, but so far most everything inside of 10 yds and between the tackles. ie worrisome.

Pickett had the TE wide open for a TD on the first play but pulled it down and dumped it to the flat. He also had rara open twice between the safeties and didn't see him the first time and held the ball to long allowing the db to knock it away the second time. Plays in the middle of the field are being called. Pickett just isn't making it happen yet. He made a great throw to Aston down the seem late so hopefully that gives KP some confidence.

Watson’s reputation was always as a good QB coach. He’s never been highly sought over as an OC.

good, thanks.

They ran 3 or 4 slants last game. Honestly I didn't have a issue with most of the play calls , really easy to second guess after the fact. Now the psu game the psu announcers, had to listen to the first 10 min of the game, jack ham was calling out what Pitt was going to do before the snap. It was way to predictable, he'll they even ran a screen to RB yesterday

Watson is going to sink Narduzzi’s ship unless he makes changes this off season. I watch a lot of college football. Our passing game is garbage. It’s horizontal instead of vertical.

I am scared to death once we face a team that will stop our running game. Which is going to happen

That screen pass was beautiful. If we can only clean up our deep passing game, this offense could be special.

Pickett has seemed antsy in all 3 games. After his injury, playing with the knee brace seemed to help him. He started to actually set up and get something behind his throws. I hope to see that continue.

Pitt also needs a receiver that can stretch the field and catch those longer passes. Lopes, Mack and Ffrench look like possession receivers. Mathews and Tipton more of the same (don't like Mathews reliability) Jacques-Louis seems a jet sweep guy. Maybe Jenkins-Butler or Smith can stretch the field.

TE play looks non existent. Maybe Medure or Mimes need given a shot.

How about in passing situations you put Matthews at TE. Maybe he gets some matchups against LB's and makes some big plays(his hands are suspect however) In fact I would really like to see if they could beef Matthews up a bit and move him to TE permanently. TE is a real need position on this roster and I don't see matthews ever making a impact at WR. Wouldn't have to be a great blocker on obvious running downs you replace him with a OL.

I think that's why he's on the move a lot and I also think it's why he's missing wide open guys downfield. It will be interesting to watch his development in this area. Maybe this is where Watson can help a young QB.
