@Syr: They score points, but give up even more. We lock them up early. W by 10-14
UNC: They score tons of points but haven't really been tested. Have a close win and close loss vs. their only two not-terrible opponents (SCar & GT who are 5-9). W by 3-10.
ND: Lots of talent, but they looked vulnerable vs. Virginia, Navy, & USC, which means we have a decent chance. We can't make big mistakes on either side of the ball. L by 3-7.
@Duke: Very good D. On O they're solid but unspectacular. First to 13 wins. W by 1-6.
Lou: 4 L's to 4 great teams, and they've been in all of them. Barely beat NCSt, though, who VT then handled. Their QB's get sacked & picked a lot. W by 6-10.
Mia: All around good O, but are winning on the back of their great turnover margin which could change. Very close to losing their last 4 (OT W vs Nebr, +4 TOV in close W vs VT). W by 6-13

I think we beat ND. We always play them tough and we are playing very well.

Pitt Players are very high off of this GT Win and the way they won it. They are ripe for an Upset just like when Chryst lost to them after beating VT in his first year. The game is away too and always tough at Cuse. Any underestimation and lack of focus in not preparing for Cuse will result in a loss. I don't see the Pitt Coaches allowing this happen, but sometimes, the other Coaches can make their Players be batter when your own think they ca just show up. We shall see, but the game should favor Pitt, but they must win it, not the just the Coaches. The good news Don Duzzi ain't no Chrystsake Tattaglia's type that often out coached at Pitt. Still, Coach Pat & Staff have to be on guard with this Team every game including Cuse! Win!

UNC: They score tons of points but haven't really been tested. Have a close win and close loss vs. their only two not-terrible opponents (SCar & GT who are 5-9). W by 3-10.
This is again, one of the toughest game remaining on the Pitt Schedule and we lost to them twice over bad Special Teams Plays. The Pitt Players owe this Team a beating just like they owed GT, but it will be a close game just like GT! The difference is Coach Pat & Staff are coaching Pitt Players up on Defense and Special Teams way better than anything Chryst and His Pimp Staff ever did? Toss Up Win!

ND: Lots of talent, but they looked vulnerable vs. Virginia, Navy, & USC, which means we have a decent chance. We can't make big mistakes on either side of the ball. L by 3-7.
ND is impressive and Pitt will have to be at its best while the Irish has to play it worse game too. Yet, Virginia almost had it won? To me it is not that much important on whether Pitt win or loses, but they play that game against ND! This game will reveal if Coach Pat & Staff can coach Pitt up to play against Top 25 Ranked Teams? There is only ND & Duke ranked in the Top 25 right now which Pitt did not do against Iowa? Loss to Toss Up Loss to Toss Up depending on what happens at Cuse & UNC?

@Duke: Very good D. On O they're solid but unspectacular. First to 13 wins. W by 1-6.
Duke's Coach is as good as Iowa, Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, and Virginia Tech with Duke having about the same talent as Pitt. Toss Up to Toss Up Win Ditto above?

Toss Up Win but very Close to toss Up depending on above Wins & Losses?

Mia: All around good O, but are winning on the back of their great turnover margin which could change. Very close to losing their last 4 (OT W vs Nebr, +4 TOV in close W vs VT). W by 6-13
Depends on what Pitt does above and on Injuries, Toss Up right now!

there's no unwinnable game left and no game they can't lose either except syracuse. 30-7 last year and pitt is a much better team this year. narduzzi isn't going to allow them to overlook that game enough for them to lose it.

the biggest game left is UNC. they win on thursday night and they'll be howling for blood against ND and the rest of the year. i'm expecting ND to run into a buzzsaw at heinz anyway but definitely if pitt is 7-1.

beat UNC and running the table is a real possibility. lose and it's also a real possibility they lose the next 2 as well.

plus i expect conner to come back and resume pounding defenders into little shells of men, rust be damned. if the doctors say he can go narduzzi isn't gonna keep him off the field unless he tosses JC into a dungeon 300 feet below the pete.

3 and 3 gives us 8 wins which at the beginning of the season is where people put pitt at the high mark. I said that getting to 9 wins would be huge for recruiting and I think we can eclipse that if the coaches get us not to overlook anyone

I match up with your thoughts too. Who would have thought that going in to this year.

Syracuse is a must win. The rest of the schedule will be tough. Syracuse is a winnable game.

Here is what Sagarin's computer predicts the rest of the way--

@Syracuse--+10. W

UNC--Pitt by + 0.7 (Tossup)

ND-- -7 L

@Duke-- -3 L

Louisville-- +4 W

Miami-- +4 W

Predicts between 3-3 and 4-2 for season record of between 8-4 and 9-3

ACC record between 6-2 and 7-1

Last year's final rankings:

Top 7 spots -- All B5 teams with 1 or 2 losses
Next 8 spots -- All B5 teams with 3 losses

That is every B5 team that finished last season with 3 or less losses. We could finish with 3 or less losses, but our biggest hurdles are 1) ND, 2) potential ACC Championship game with Clemson who will kill us, 3) great bowl opponent, 4) slip ups vs. Duke, UNC, Lou, Miami.

Miami playing in Dec @ Pitt.cold ,snowing,windy,I'll take Pitt

Good call. I mean it's not like the last three times we've played Miami at home in November they haven't beaten us all three times by a combined 102-48 or anything like that. :confused:

We may beat Miami, but the fact that it might be cold when we play won't have a whole heck of a lot to do with it.

I think the key to the future is out run defense. If we can force teams to pass, I think we can unleash hell on their QB's and make them gun shy, if not legally (and unfortunately) remove them from the game.

I think there will be one big win as either an underdog or a toss up (maybe ND), but also a disappointing loss. Probably 2 losses the rest of the way.

i tend to agree.....however i will say 3 losses to finish a very optimistic season
