Even assuming the best case scenario, that we get Hamlin and Coleman, we can't realistically expect both to start at CB as true freshmen. And, ever since Syracuse exposed him, it has been painfully obvious that Maddox can't play CB. Even if he has decent coverage, the other team simply needs to throw the ball high. He has been dreadful against Syracuse, ND, UNC, Duke, Louisville, and beyond dreadful today. And he isn't going to get any better because he isn't going to get any taller.
Realistically, we need two JUCO CBs who can come in and play right away. But as a practical matter, it is doubtful we can find and sign more than one. Otherwise, we face another year of teams throwing against him at will.
