Pitt had some connection - Is he any good? - Can he play the point?
Gary, at the moment we have ONE scholarship to give. We are losing two 5th year centers and a SG.Pitt had some connection - Is he any good? - Can he play the point? - I believe Ashton liked him
Ha!From Robinson, Wilson, Smith, Jones and Young to Justice Kithcart and Wolfgang Novogratz. That's quite a change in recruiting strategy.
Would this mean Johnson is being recruited over?

We are recruiting centers, not PG's with our last scholarship.
If more scholarships open up, such as from a wing or PF we would need to add a wing or PF.
We will have two 4-star recruited PG's on scholarship, plus a juco who was a Top 100 PG coming out of high school. And another Juco guard, Crisshawn Clark who has played some PG.
We are NOT recruitIng another PG.
Give it up.
Yes, but does Wolfgang have the composition to fit what we need in a PG? And how does he conduct himself off the court? Can he orchestrate an up tempo style needed in the ACC? If he stinks, he likely will find no symphony here. We are not a very symphonetic bunch.I know the scholarship breakdown - Odoba equals Manigault - Kithcart equals Robinson - Clark equals S,Smith and Maia equals - ???
I value you opinion but I respectfully disagree. When has the number of scholarships prevented us from meeting a need? I do not know if you remember but the year we got Antonio Graves very late, I predicted (and was ridiculed because) I insisted we would bring in another guard before the season started. Guess what - we did. I do not know if you remember that last year I once again predicted we would bring in another guard very late. Ridicule again - Guess what? We bring in Milligan (as you suggested an insurance policy), I feel confident we will take another insurance policy this recruiting season. This is MHO.
As far as a wing scholarship opening up, that scholarship should and most probably would be filled by a point. Jones. Johnson, Wilson, Clark and even Jeter could at least play there. There is no option at the point - None - That is what is obvious to me.
Darn you! Lol.....No, but he writes one hell of a symphony.

Milligan was originally in high school at Casa Grande in Arizona In 2012. He was being recruited there by Clemson, Oregon State, UNLV, USC and Pepperdine.I know the scholarship breakdown - Odoba equals Manigault - Kithcart equals Robinson - Clark equals S,Smith and Maia equals - ???

Please do not tell me about fortuitous circumstances. The circumstances were fortuitous because and only because the need was there.

Wilson's play at the point is not good enough (without blowing a 10 point lead) to give Robinson a blow.
Milligan was a top 100 PG coming out of high school and was recruited by who and ended up where when?
From what you have seen, do you actually believe that Milligan or Wilson is capable of playing important minutes at the point in ACC play next season? I would like to hear your answer.

Sounds like Milligan will be quite an academic credit to Pitt.Milligan was originally in high school at Casa Grande in Arizona In 2012. He was being recruited there by Clemson, Oregon State, UNLV, USC and Pepperdine.
He was ineligible and did a prep year at Mt. Zion Academy in NC where he was being recruited hardest by NC State, Marquette and Tennessee. He ended up a non-qualifier again and attended Kilgore Juco, where he averaged 9.5 as a freshman and 14.5 as a soph. The same schools who had recruited him at Mt. Zion, plus Creighton, were recruiting him again but he still had eligibility issues and signed with FGCU. He was released after a late qualifying issue took time to be resolved and Pitt snatched him as a late replacement for Josh Newkirk.
Wilson played important minutes THIS season and some called for him to replace Robinson so, yeah, I'd say he could play at the point in ACC play next season. Ultimately, I think he's more suited for the Wanamaker role of secondary ball handler.
I think the job will be Kithcart's eventually but we may well play a 3-headed PG through the early season next year.
Sounds like Milligan will be quite an academic credit to Pitt.
Hey, as long as he can ball.......
So long as he's academically eligible and not in jail..that's all that matters.Sounds like Milligan will be quite an academic credit to Pitt.

In all college sports.
For the sake of argument let's just say you're right, we need another PG on top of the 3 we'll have next year. It's now February, so all of the best kids in the 2016 class are pretty much spoken for. If for some reason a kid becomes available, he will get even more attention than he would normally because schools all of a sudden realize they have a need due to a guy going pro, transferring, etc. We almost never win those battles.
The second option is juco. Again, most of the good juco players are spoken for. The coaches haven't been out scouting jucos this year, at least like we heard they were doing last year. It's possible a kid slips through the cracks, but is a juco pg, one who Pitt can realistically get a good option?
The third, and best but least likely option is a grad transfer PG. We saw last year exactly how this goes. Pitt really wanted a grad transfer G. Dixon really wanted the two Trey's who went to Louisville, but so did just about every other program in the country. Sterling Smith was actually someone coveted, and look how that turned out. So lets say legit ACC level PG announces he is grad transferring. Based on things we've seen in the past will Pitt land him? I highly doubt it. Their value gets inflated, every team with an opening comes after him, and he'll end up at a school that is either more high profile, or has a coaching staff more adept at recruiting.
So, I just don't see it. We desperated need a big man because I dont think Nix and Luther at the 5 is the answer. I guess we'll see what happens. The spring period is always a bit crazy.
And he hasn't played a college game yet.The one bright spot I see going forward actually is Kitchart. The kid is tough, aggressive, and here's something different -- he likes playing D and does it well. Offensively he attacks, and is quick.
Who cares? Besides, Damon Wilson had supposed academic issues and he has had a 4.0.
So was JJ Moore in his highlights. And he hasn't played a college game yet.
Let's try to keep that in mind. His highlights are great. Everyone's are.

I believe you are correct- it was OSNA that was red-flagged moreso than Damon.I believe Wilson has always been a good student, it was his prep school's curriculum that was in question.
