We played as well as could be expected

Only complaint - shot selection, but there is nothing new about that.
Oh boy yippee, and where'd that get us? Another loss? Capel is now I believe 3-19 in February since he came to Pitt. That's an absolute embarrassment. He ain't the answer here. We've now lost 7 of 8. Wouldn't surprise me if we lose out. Why not. No progress at all now Capel going into year 4.

I’m not enamored overall. But for crissakes did you really expect them to win today?

I don’t believe in moral victories either but this game wasn’t necessarily worthy of one of your tantrums.

If we weren’t in a pandemic, I would say this team needs to go out together have a few drinks or whatever, take tomorrow off and hit the reset button.

My take away was that Pitt was the second best team on the floor today . FSU was bigger , stronger and more athletic ..game over .

Pitt without Toney played as well as could be expected . Had Horton shot the ball better Pitt would’ve had a chance to pull off the upset .

A loss is a loss , but there was no quit out there today . Sometimes the other team is better and today the better team won .

Caple kept it within 10, it's a moral victory around here these days

In no way upset about the loss, they're just the better team.

But if we want to have a post season, we have to win more games and we're running out of opportunities. Part of it is scheduling luck--losing a shot at a mediocre Clemson team to play ranked FSU. And we haven't gotten to play a bad BC team because of COVID delays. Hate to scheme around pandemic scheduling, but fading better teams and getting lesser teams on the schedule would have helped. Even then, we're probably not an NCAA tourney team.

In truth, the word "but" cannot be used after the term, "I don't believe in moral victories..."

Thanks for playing grammar 👮‍♀️ 🚨 . I think we all just type out thoughts here quickly and I believe my meaning was pretty clear. But in case you have any doubt I don’t believe in moral victories period.

I love the way Hamilton builds his roster, coaches, and has his guys playing. Think they might end up winning the conference again.

Yes, I plead guilty and ask for board absolution.

I do believe in moral victories . But moral victories can only occur as a subset of the bigger picture within a program's development when a team is on a sustained positive trajectory and as a clear underdog takes a game down to the wire or loses in OT to one of the top teams in the country/conference. A measuring stick game so to speak. Sound familiar? It doesn't to me either, because that is not what is happening here.

No excuses...

Fact....they are a better team than us...deeper and more experience.

Fact...we played hard, didn’t quit, and kept at it.

Fact...we minimized turnovers, and led in steals.

Fact...they won, we los.

Hail to PITT!

Man enough with the silver linings....it was another LOSS ...this program has fallen to the point of absolutely IRRELEVANT and it's embarrassing, Jeff Capel is not the man to fix it clearly, I am fed up

moral victories are for losers. excuses are for losers.

You know you could be making millions playing in the NBA, or coaching in the NBA or one of the major college programs, so why are you here posting on the free board of a program that is probably 25 months away of receiving an NCAA invite?

Kinda tired of Pitt sports sucking. The basketball team, as someone questioned in another thread, appears to be headed in the same direction as the football program. We are nothing but mediocre to below average in both sports. Both teams had impressive runs but those are behind us now.

I don't know if there is a coach alive in either sport who could bring these programs to life. It is just to hard to recruit top athletes here. Those who believe it is possible to find a coach who would want to come here and ressurrect the program are just fooling themselves. Keep on dreaming.

I've been dreaming about the football team recovering since I graduated in 1988. No dice.
Hate to be a downer, but I am 54 and I doubt like hell I will ever see Pitt contend for an ACC title or make an elite 8 again or see a top 3 seed in the tournament. If we continue to run a squeaky clean program, I am all but certain of it.

Excuses and Moral Victories are for losers.
1. They are a better team, deeper and more experience (excuse)
2. Moral victory we played hard, didn't quit, and kept at it.
3. Moral victory minimized tunovers, and led in steals
Bottom line FSU won and Pitt lost nothing else matters.
