They are extremely overrated. I said a few weeks ago that they are a Round of 32 team. Sure they are better than us but for 40 minutes on Saturday, we play better and get the Dub. I would be totally shocked if they blew us out. I expect an amped up Pitt team buoyed by the sellout crowd and Zoo showing up to play at their highest level.

While I do think they are overrated, they still rebound too well for us. They seem to "out athlete" a lot of teams in order to score, as they take a bunch of bad shots. They get offensive rebounds and get a lot of put backs.

I don't think we have enough to beat them right now.

It's the UNC offensive rebounding that will hurt us badly. I'm just hoping for a competitive game and that we stay within 10 points of them.

This is also where I am with the game.

Everybody is going to outrebound us. This is not your classic UNC team with monster glass-eaters. Also, remember, Roy is a "roll the balls out" type of coach. His teams lose a few of these types of games per year.

this is an easy prediction. a long shot, you are a hero if Pitt wins ::) If they win, that totally changes the discussion around this season. I will be rooting hard but will be very happily surprised if we win. I agree they have too much size. all of our Pitt players have to play above their average levels and one or two have to have great games and UNC shooting has to be off. we may surprise them on defensive intensity.

Here's what I see with the advent of the ACC part of our schedule. First of all
most of these teams have experienced guards and wings as good as ours.
KEY word is experienced. I think our three freshmen are terrific and playing
great. These other ACC teams also have talented freshmen, the difference is
they're not forced to start as ours are.
Our pressure defense really upended some of our OCC teams. These ACC
teams have seen this before and are obviously far more talented. Our on ball
defense is something we do very well, however I doubt it will cause that much
havoc against ACC level talent.
Last and foremost; Rebounding, inside defense, and inside scoring. These are
extreme weakness for us. We all know that, and so do opposing ACC coaches.
If we give up 20 plus offensive rebounds against ACC teams, they will be
put backs plus fouls...unlike what the last team we played did.

I really like Capel and his staff. The ACC coaching staffs are a whole different
level than what we've seen. So can we upset NC as the OP stated?....it's
possible, but not plausible IMO.

Thinking Pitt is going to surprise anyone assumes no one thinks enough of them to scout them . This isn’t an OOC game , every game counts . Pitt has scouted UNC and UNC has scouted Pitt there will be no surprises.

To me the most interesting aspect of this game is how Pitts freshman hold up against UNC . Winning would be beyond great , but competitive is what I want to see .

Key to the game is Frame. Need him to make at least 4-5 threes.

But I could see it. The blue bloods sometimes lose road games early in conference play, I think BC beat Duke early last year.

Brown's play last game was encouraging, if he can block a few shots, it makes a big difference.

Safe bet. He averages 17. Cam gets 22+.
Pitt losing by 14 or less would be amazing.

There is NO WAY Pitt is getting blown out. UNC isnt that good. They are an 11-7 team. They arent as good as VT. Not to knock VT because they are good but Penn State beat VT. The fans and players will be hyped. We are getting a pedestrian ACC team but for a hyped up crowd. I would feel much less confident if this were VT, FSU, or NC State on a lazy Wednesday night in front of 4000 people. There will be a ton of energy in the building and this is one of the least talented UNC teams in awhile

I think we have a shot, and they aren't as big as they usually are, but they will likely outscore us. I don't think our offense is good enough to keep up with them and I think eventually we lose by 11-13 points.

I think we have a shot as well. I expect an 8 - 9 point spread, and if I was going to bet on the game I'd take Pitt and the points (or would I take the over? I'll have to ask steel). But I wouldn't feel very comfortable putting too much money on it,

I don't think any professional gambler would touch this game unless they'd feel strongly that UNC was going to trounce Pitt .
Too many unanswered questions right now with Pitt . The fun part is we'll be getting some of answers on Sat .

Well I certainly hope you are correct.

I could see us keeping this around 12-14 at worst. Not sure if that meets the definition of "pound."
Inside. I can see score being close, but pound typically means for me that they will dominate inside. Score will be closer than game. Hope I am wrong!

"UNC isn't that good" "A pedestrian ACC team" What???
They beat a pretty darn good Gonzaga team scoring 103 points and have scored over 100 at least 3 times this season. Yeah, maybe this isn't an amazing UNC team compared to some of their past teams, but this is a veteran team that can flat out score the basketball. A lot of things will need to go our way to have a chance at this upset. Wilson-Frame needs to hit some 3's, Terrel Brown needs to play his best game ever, we'll need to have a pretty good day shooting the ball. They're going to kill us on the boards, so unless we come out and shoot pretty well I think it'll be really tough. However, I don't think we get blown out or embarrassed either, I just think we could play pretty good and still lose by like 11-13 points. Definitely not an impossible game to win, it could def happen and UNC have an off day shooting the ball, but I don't think that this is just some likely upset.

Would love to see a V, but really want to see a well coached diciplined team that fights to the end. We will be very frustrated by UNC out rebounding us on their offensive end. They will score many 2nd, 3rd, 4th... chance points. Pitt's recipe to victory will have to include long rebound fast break opportunities, Frame and Toney going off behind the arc at 10 for 14, several converted "and ones", and limited turn overs. An energizing crowd will certainly help, so let's do our part and give'm h3ll! H2P!!

One of those numbers crunching sites that was a got to of mine in the past had this as a 3pt game. FWIW

Wouldn’t surprise me. Nor would a win.

Or we could lose by 18.

But I would be surprised if we got blown out like last year.

So be it. The program was in turmoil. He jumped the sinking ship. I can’t fault him.

Sure ... I don't disagree. But I'd simply rather not have him sink a buzzer beater to defeat us, wouldn't you agree?

I missed this earlier. Easy to pound on you now obviously, but saying they’re an 11-7 team is kinda silly.

Nassir Little is projected as a lottery pick by just about everybody, and White is a probable 1st rounder as well. Add in Maye and Johnson and you have a really nice team.
