That would make no sense since he's the returning starter. There were rumors that Shell may have been facing a suspension for "failed tests" and with Howard kicked off the team, maybe there are players that feel that Pitt's internal testing policy is too strict. Other D1 programs don't have drug testing.
I have no idea whether this is true or not but if it is, there would have to be reasons other than playing time. Shell was very close with the Clairton 3, even changing his Twitter handle to "bout dat" like the Clairton players have. Wouldn't surprise me if Howard and Webb wound up at WVU. Doesn't everybody?

Posters make all kinds of assumptions but to say these Clairton kids are close with Shell is ridicules. They may know him. They may even like him...but to say they are close is ridicules. Clairton and Hopewell are miles apart. I doubt they have crossed paths more than a handful of times.
I don't know what their relationship is now but Shell was a big part of their recruitment to Pitt. As I said, he changed his Twitter handle to match theirs and I was at a Clairton WPIAL basketball game when they pulled the big upset against Lincoln Park. Shell was celebrating with them on the court.
If the Clairton kids are considering wvu because of Shell.... Has to be they are jealous of Tyler and all the great press he deserves.

I have NO IDEA if they are considering WVU. Just saying that anybody who runs into any kind of trouble (ie Howard, not Webb) usually winds up at WVU.
Its close to home and they are friends with Shell and Tony Gibson, I'm sure. Makes sense, that's all.

Doubtful WVU can give any to new players or transfer until next year but since Pitt does not play WVU doubt anyone will stop them from transferring to WVU. As Penn State they are making promises everyone and anyone can play, but WVU has to tell some Upper Classman, time to go away?
There has been many rumors about marijuana in college sports and now that it is becoming legal in some areas it may no longer be problem, but it still can influence a players concentration and execution.
The Shell fallout still seems to continue at Pitt and maybe will continue to influence recruiting at Aliquippa Area and Claritin but James Conners has been a blessing at Pitt ever since he arrived. Tyler Boyd too, and they are fine examples of what a recruit and player can do if they focus on their plays, practices, and conditioning instead of recreational pleasures that can hurt one's development to become an NFL Millionaire for Life with a College Diploma in sports that will be a lifetime experience of opening up other doors should they choose!
As stated under Chryst and now Narduzzi, better to recruit student athletes that want to come and study at Pitt as they develop their talents and minds, instead of becoming a distraction due to a lack of self discipline and then blaming others?
I would have loved to have Shell at Pitt but as a Linebacker and although I would love to have recruits from Aliquippa and Claritin, only the ones that want to come to Pitt and focus on being better and wanting to win has to be within them,.
Intelligence comes from the Heart first and one desires makes his head and body better to perform and those that think otherwise often find them lost and losing focus, in my view.
