noon: Clemson @ Miami - ABC (WTAE locally)
noon: Pitt @ Syracuse - ESPNU
noon: NC State @ Wake Forest - Fox Sports South (Root Sports at midnight)
12:30: Boston College @ Louisville - Raycom (thisTV locally)
3:30: Duke @ Virginia Tech - ESPNU
3:30: Virginia @ North Carolina - Fox Sports South (Root Sports at 3AM)
7:00: Florida State @ Georgia Tech - ESPN2
If there was an ACC TV channel:
11:00 - ACC Gameday live from Miami Gardens
1:00 - NC State @ Wake
4:30 - BC @ Louisville
8:15 - UVa @ UNC
- this is a really interesting week in the ACC with a lot of good matchups. Starting with Clemson/Miami, this one has "Clemsoning" written all over it. I'm going to pick Clemson but I think everybody knows they could easily lose this one. Its ashame this matchup only happens once every 6 years.
- Pitt, Syracuse, what else can you say. Toss out the records when these 2 hated rivals play. I say that tongue-in-check because I don't consider Syracuse a rival in football. I know we have played a bunch of times but we have very rarely both been good at the same time. I consider them a rival in basketball and can think back on many classic bball games. These teams just have not provided memorable football games. To me, Syracuse is just a team we've played a lot, not a "rival." I hope we are ready to go though because they are good enough to beat us.
- This week shows you again why a network is needed. Starting 4 games in the noon/12:30 window is just stupid. Only 1 game starts 7:00 or later. I know the networks dictate but if you had your own, you could spread them out more. Part of the problem with ACC Football is fans can never watch any other teams play because all the games are usually on at the same time. Very few night games.
- Since I've been making these posts, I'm not sure I've ever seen a more bizarre TV pick than Root Sports selecting the Army @ Rice game at noon instead of NCSU @ Wake. Not that NCSU/Wake is a good game but Army/Rice? It doesn't get much worse than that. Root buys both the CUSA and ACC packages so it has rights to both. They've chosen the ACC game every time I can remember except when Marshall is playing so I'm just really perplexed as to why they would feel Army/Rice would bring more viewers than NCSU/Wake. They are putting the ACC game on at midnight after Penguins hockey.
- Root also decided to go with a CUSA game at 3:30 but this one makes a little more sense. Instead of showing UNC/UVa, "The South's Oldest Rivalry," they are showing North Texas @ Marshall. Root is the Regional Sports Network for West Virginia so it probably makes business sense to show Marshall. They'll show UNC/UVa at 3AM.
.
- The most intriguing game to me is Duke at VT. If we beat Syracuse, we should all be glued to ESPNU at 3:30. A scenario exists where we can clinch the Coastal outright if we are 6-0 after the Duke game if VT beats Duke, Duke beats UNC, and Miami has 3 ACC losses by then. That isn't that far-fetched. Its amazing how close we are. Lets hope we don't screw it up.
- my upset special of the week is GT beating FSU. I just have a feeling. No way GT can lose 6 in a row.
