Well, good game, good effort

It doesn't take a Bill Walsh protege to realize throwing jump balls on go routes to receivers that have 5 inches on the guys covering them is a good idea. There isn't a quick fix for that. Need players.

I just don't understand how these guys are playing Division 1 football with ball skills that are so bad? Who recruited them besides us? I would like to watch tape of them in high school and compare it to what they are doing now.

It doesn't take a Buddy Ryan protege to realize that if the other team continues to throw jump balls on go routes to receivers that have 5 inches on the guys who are covering them then maybe playing your corners in man to man coverage all over the field with absolutely no help at all really isn't a good idea.

Also obvious is the pushing on most every play. The corners were step for step on the receivers for the first time all year. The push for separation was the difference. Sorry we beat your team this year, but facts are facts.

If the defensive player already has a handful of jersey before the offensive pushes off and the ball arrives, that call is going against the defense almost every time.

Hey look, I don't like it either. A safety over the top on occasion would be a nice wrinkle.

I honestly didnt see many jump balls at all. Most all were behind the shoulder throws or fades to the sidelines. The only jump ball I can remember is the one we should have picked off if not for the blatant offensive pass interference only to be called defensive PI.

Well, not going to argue anymore. We just saw it different. I know I admit I saw one time a Pitt CB had jersey and it wasnt called, but just rewatch the game. They pushed off on most all over the shoulder throws. End of the day, who cares, it is in the past and no bitching about it will bring it back.

Coaches put the players in position to win, and good coaches do that.

I don't think our coaches put our players in a position to win last night defensively. I'm not saying Narduzzi isn't a good coach. However, if he isn't willing to change his scheme, he needs to upgrade talent at the position pronto.

eh, difference of opinion again. I think his scheme is his scheme, and shown to work. Our players need to execute that scheme. No different that telling Graham not to run the spread cause of our personal. A coach isnt going to do that, he is here cause of that scheme, there will be a learning curve and losses due to it, but have to focus on the long-term goal, to do otherwise would be disingenuous.

Recruiting will be Duzz make or break, especially if he won't adjust. Recruits well enough he will win, like it is today, I'm not so sure

Call them jump balls, 50-50 balls, whatever you want. Many, perhaps most, of their completions were on balls that if our defensive backs had the talent and skill to look back for and make plays on the ball they could have easily been intercepted or broken up.

Your corners didnt even play in the game, they were Pitt's corners. And I realize you are just being an @sshole, but of course, that isnt the case in the slightest that our hands were glued to their jerseys.

Watch UNC, Louis, Clem and FSU corners play defense. They are all grabbing jersey early in the route. Those grabs unless extreme are almost never called. Calls are made as the ball is arriving. The penalty called when Motley was QB should never have been called and it ultimately cost us the game.

Yes - we could have been called for more db penalties - Yes - the Tech receivers were pretty clever in their push offs (nothing looked extreme) - But, if you are going to allow bigger receivers to push off (UNC also), the official has to just let them play (allow anything goes for the db as well)

I will also say our CB's absolutely SUCKED at not turning their heads early in the year. They are getting alittle better, so they are trying.

I think too many times though they are waiting for the ball to hit hands then trying to swat the hands. Not a high percentage way to play D

Agree with both observations

I just dont see double teaming helping. I think the occasional mixing it up in coverages are OK. That is about all I would do.
