Look in the mirror. There was a lot of whining on here about the sun an pinstripe bowl the day after Xmas. I can assume that was across the board among fans, so Barnes is simply following the fanbase's perceived wishes...a bowl week bowl that is driveable.

Now, navy is actually a pretty neat matchup, but I would still much rather play in NYC than Annapolis.

Anyways, really, we only have ourselves to blame.

No. We don't have ourselves to blame.

The team earned a tier 1 bowl. If we go to a tier 2 bowl, our athletic director did the team a disservice.

Driveability shouldn't trump what the players earned. Barnes should not have volunteered to accept tier 2 status.

Well, Pitt can blame itself if Barnes Plan ends up having Pitt play a 5-7 or 6-6 Team? I agree with what you have posted and thank you for pointing it out too!

Pitt89 - you're dumb

Barnes doesn't "choose" our bowl - the bowl committees choose us

we don't have a lot to sell at the moment -- fans that don't show up, a program that has been mediocre recently - so it's a hard sell to bowls

but we're on the right track - we are improving

this bowl season means very little to us and what Narduzzi is building

If you get hung up or let down on the results of today, then you are a very weak fan -- maybe you should follow some other team instead

Aside from nyc, would more than 5000 (and that is a generous number in my opinion ) show up to those other bowls? Annapolis is an easy drive for lots of us. Maybe if 10000 panther fans show up bowl committee members would see our fan base is getting serious. But chances are people would rather complain about attendance or opponent or location. Which is fine. I can logistically make nyc or Annapolis, but sun bowl? Nope. 11 hr drive to Nashville? Probably not. But I won't complain if those options happen.

Simply not true.

We can't go to a tier 2 bowl, per ACC rules, unless Barnes agrees to accept demotion to tier 2.

The bowls do pick, but they have to follow certain parameters. One of them is the the tier 1 bowls have to choose between the 3rd and 6th placed ACC teams unless a team volunteers to drop to tier 2.

If we're in the military bowl, the only way it could happen is if Barnes agreed to accept tier 2 designation.

Nashville isn't an 11 hour drive from Pittsburgh

IMO that is so dumb and totally unacceptable by these bowls. You pick the teams because of their seasons. Period. You can't put a 6-6 Alabama team over a 10-2 Vanderbilt team if that would be the scenario. It's not that bad, but the situations they're putting Pitt in, they might as well but a 5-7 or 6-6 ACC team ahead of us. Annapolis against Navy is absolutely unacceptable. I would decline the invite and protest the decision.

Why would they decline & protest what it seems the athletic department asked for?

Pitt should not have to be playing at someone's home field. That is insane. We had a much better season than to play an actual road game in a bowl.

Actually, wouldn't Pitt get a reasonable percentage of the allotment? So it's not completely a home game for Navy.
By this logic, a Rose Bowl game against UCLA would be unacceptable.

Except the Rose Bowl is a game you want to be in. We are much better than a team that should be in the Annapolis Bowl. Then they match us with a solid Navy team on their home field. It's just the fact these bowls are not taking into consideration the seasons the teams had in any way.

So this was what you chose as your 1st post!

You know what? The people that need to look in the mirror are the Stupid Chancellors that Pitt has had: J. Dennis O'Conner and Mark Nordenberg. These dopes single handedly try to kill Pitt football. You don't put a shitty product on the field, intentionally, for 30 years and wonder why you don't have fan support.

Pitt: Run by the Dumbest "Smart" people to walk the face of the earth.

Whoa, you give them to much credit? Intentionally? Is it possible they were so dumb they actually thought they were putting a good product on the field?
