For the better part of the last five years, Pitt's opponents could believe in one thing:
If you had a lead on the Panthers in the fourth quarter, you would win.
In 33 consecutive games where an opponent was ahead in the final 15 minutes, Pitt lost. The Panthers overcame a few fourth-quarter ties during that span - most notably Notre Dame in 2013 - but never came back from a fourth-quarter deficit.
That changed Saturday when Pitt entered the fourth quarter trailing Syracuse 17-13 but emerged from the Carrier Dome with a 23-20 that improved the team's record to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in the ACC.
"We're so well-coached and disciplined that guys are always locked in," junior receiver Tyler Boyd said after the game. "No matter what, we're never going to give up. We're not a quitting team."
