The worst thing...we could have open air markets with dogs, cats and bats caged all in the name of wokeness and cultural diversity.

Makes you wonder where those ear and tail clipping practices started... they must have started liking dogs as pets at some point and only chopped off the good parts.

There are a lot of very sick cultures in this world. The Chinese are just one of them.

Been to China many times and have eaten strange stuff (cow intestines, esophagus, etc), nothing raw . Hot Pot in Chongqing was the most bizarre.

Got the flu in China once and could not find normal medicine you can find in the US. It was awful. The Chinese people still heavily rely on old home remedies when they get sick

I would never want to be seriously Ill in China

Yeah.....me too. Actually, as a Sichuan food addict, I loved the hot pot over there. I am a really adventurous eater and love authentic Chinese (or any) food.

That being said, as an absolute Dog Lover, that was the line I would not cross. It would be like eating my kid.

The US should cut off all trade with any nation where these are legal.

No but we can make enough threats to get them to make this stuff illegal. They already made eating bats and other wild animals illegal.

Haggas, tripe, pickled pigs feet, rocky mountain oysters.....

My one friend's theory is that the Wuhan bio clinic sold the experimented on animal carcasses to markets instead of destroying it because they figured cooking would kill anything in it.

After viewing this video, it seems plausible.

I don't believe we should trade with Saudi Arabia and most other Arab nations either because of human rights violations. However, I could look past that more than anyone who allows eating bats and monkeys.

Eating monkeys offends me. Never met one but I think I’d like them if I did. Serious statement here. I’d eat dog over a monkey and it wouldn’t even be a close decision. I’m talking dog like a pet, golden retriever type.

eating a monkey is borderline cannibalism.

For the most part I agree, it's pretty sick, BUT... on the other hand, is there a reason why eating dogs and cats is more dangerous than eating cows and pigs?

Not more dangerous, just less accepted. I guess since they are domesticated? I don’t know.

We eat cow like it’s our job, bison, elk, venison, turkey but we all cringe and gag on the thought of dog or cat. You bring up a good point. It’s a tad non sensical. Maybe it’s not good. Less fat content?

I couldn't eat my two cats, I mean you raise them from babies like a member of the family, they look at you like their parent and act like your friend, it's not like eating a piece of meat in plastic wrap from a supermarket that's a chunk of a cow you've never seen.

There are alimentary factors and other reasons why some animals are safer to eat. See the kosher and OT food laws as an example.

Yes, they don’t raise domesticated herds of dogs and cats like we do cows, sheep’s and hogs. For the most part, our domesticated herds are pretty controlled and monitored for diseases. There are few exceptions.

When is the last time you saw a free ranging dog farm in China? They don’t monitor any of that exotic trade.

They round up cats and dogs from the streets from my understanding. Then you have all these different animals in isolated areas with a host of virus and diseases that are species specific and then cross over.
