no sugarcoating it and save the excuses. That was pathetic. Take your pick of who/what to blame. Everyone was bad from Narduzzi on down to the waterboy. Can't believe I left a bunch of fires burning at my office to go watch that putrid affair.

Side note-I sure hope DJ is OK. The other guys too, but DJ especially, his injury looked bad and he has many millions riding on his health.

I couldn't agree with you more. That was so hard to watch. It all seemed to blow up the minute Aston tripped over his own two feet while going in for a TD. Our offense made a years worth of mistakes in one game. From bad snaps to fumbles to drops it was just awful. Maybe the hallowed grounds of Yankee Stadium were just too much for them.

I know one thing, I will be very happy that next year we will no longer be starting MAC level talent(at best) at linebacker and defensive back. They made that NW running back look like the Heismann winner today. We will be younger at these positions next season, but once the young guys catch on we will be better.

I too am hoping our injured Panthers heal up and get well fast. Get well DJ, I hope his injury is not that bad. I think they did show him on the bench at one point, and he did not seem to be in alot of discomfort. I am hoping a high ankle sprain, but that is probably a best case scenario.

.

How does a team with so much MAC level talent (at best) go 8-5 with six wins against Power 5 schools, two of which are highly ranked?

Pat Narduzzi should have an NFL job by lunchtime today.

Where is all the ACC level talent that Pitt and seven or eight other ACC teams have been missing out on? Where are all these loaded MAC level teams that must have a lot of ACC level talent?

I have to admit this gave me a slight chuckle, as I had plans set up for watching the game, but had to scrap them to go see Sing with the family.

Unfortunately, it looks like my wife did me a favor.

I am a big Nards guy, but this was not acceptable.

Everything else aside, to boil it down, NW won because they were steadier, played a cleaner game and executed more consistently.

I accepted that Navy was just a better team last year, but there is no excuse for the team to come out so disjointed in his second bowl game.

it appears to me that narduzzi has decided to treat bowl games like a vacation. not much prep, little attention to detail and that ends up equating to a sloppy performance.

he is still learning how to be a head coach. its not by accident that p5 schools pay market value and get a head coach who has previous head coaching experience.

Did you watch any games this year? We won the games we won because we executed on offense nearly flawlessly all season. Our defense was a sieve. Anyone who doesn't agree was not paying attention.

I know Narduzzi redshirted everyone in the area of need except Hamlin, which didn't work out due to injury. I can't believe that some of the freshman he recruited could not supplant what we had as starters especially at outside backer.

Coach Pat gets a pass from me on the defense because he inherited MAC level guys from Chryst at these spots. Next year will be different. He will get no free pass, as we will be playing with alot of his players. I know there will be lots of growing pains and learning on the fly, but the defense will be better come bowl season next year, and we will be a team that can be effective on both sides of the ball. H2P!

Wow, you missed a bowl game to go out with your family? You're not a real fan! At least that's what I've been told for missing Pitt games to watch my daughter play soccer, LOL.

I read his post to be specific to the LB and Secondary corps. Honestly, I can't see how anyone just watching the Syracuse game after 11 previous games to build on could not come away with the realization there is a serious talent deficiency there.

If you watched Pitt games other than just the PSU one you would have understood the point instead of implying Pitt's defensive collapse that game was an anomaly rather than the norm.

The defensive performance was not good but I was most frustrated with the offensive play calling. We had some good opportunities going over the top to Weah and Matthews in the first half, why didn't we continue to do so? Keep testing them deep and maybe we do end up opening up some opportunities in the run game. I thought the JC leap TD attempt was a bad call as you lose all leverage and push once you are airborne. Why not try to run a QB sneak there? I just don't understand how we can put 43 on Clemson yet only 24 on a 6-6 Big Ten team. I'm not saying Canada phoned it in but I thought the game plan was uninspired considering everything we'd done all year.

Worst of all in my mind Jeff, is that NW was tougher and more physical. They pushed us around all over the field. I'm not talking about the helmet to helmet hits, I'm talking about the every-down superior physicality that they showed. They beat us up. That was unexpected and the most concerning part of the loss.

Galambos, Caprara, Idowu, Webb, Briggs, and Mitchell are borderline D1 players. They would have trouble winning a starting job on most MAC teams. That's not an exaggeration. Maddox and Lewis are borderline P5 level players. Maddox would be a depth player or nickel DB at most P5 programs. Each of these players has essentially performed consistently with their offer sheets. Pitt was the best offer for every one of them, the only P5 offer for a few of them, and in at least 2 cases the only D1 offer. Some are too small, some are too slow, some are too small and too slow, and some just aren't very good football players. Those are the personnel that Narduzzi inherited in defense.

It's very simple-you can't compete against real P5 level players with guys like that.
