What are the new game day experiences other than beer being added at Heinz this year?

I have to admit beer was such a big topic anything else got lost in the shuffle. I noticed for several weeks early this summer that large sections were tarped off like they were painting or constructing something so if any physical changes happened, I would like to know.

Are there any changes to the student experience? I noticed the visitors were being moved from by Jumbotron to other side of the stadium. At least it gives them a better view of the City.

As far as the Field goes, last year from a quality point of view, it might be tough to beat as there was very little slipping and browning from what I remember. It might have been the best grass surface I saw in the NFL and certainly well above average for College. Whatever they did differently, it worked.

I personally can't wait to revisit the beer topic at the end of the year. My prediction is (for better or worse) it will create a louder home field and people will get into the game emotionally.

I sure would like to see a new ridiculous tradition started at Pitt to start the game.

Really all I want is the "Penn State sucks" version of the fight song to return. Beyond that, I actually haven't seen anything (beer sales aside), but maybe there'll be some tidbits when the season tickets arrive.

I was there for GnR and I didn't notice anything physically different with the stadium.

I think beer sales will be big. Its normally tough for me to get non-diehard Pitt fans to go as they hate losing their buzz during the game. I have no desire to sit in the boxes. Funny, for the concert, my buddy had no problem shelling out $52 for 4 Coors Light pounders...and we all hate Coors Light, it just happened to be the shortest line.

I don't like sweet caroline, I think it's gay, but if it's what the students want to do, let them have it. I'll just use that time to go take a piss.

I'd like to see more pre-game stuff. I like how other schools have like that walk to the stadium deal (ya, hard with an off-campus stadium). Do more things to get fans in their seats before kickoff and fired up.

Get more recent greats on the sidelines would be cool. I'm a pretty big Hurricane fan and have been since I was a kid. It used to be so damn cool seeing those nfl greats on their sidelines. Pitt now finally has enough of their own where they should be trying to push that also.

I'm not big on the "kids atmosphere". I prefer to create a hostile environment for the opponent, so anything they can do to create that would be great imo. If you are ok with your child being a part of that, awesome. If you want to have somewhere that you take your child to so you can relax and let them have fun jackin around...try taking them to the park/zoo or maybe a Pirate game.

yep, silly. Basically a whole generation lost on it, different conf, Paterno dead. Now if they add 10 games to the current?- maybe it will become somewhat relevant.

Saying Penn State Sucks when we are not playing Penn State always struck me as being really odd. UPMC never says how bad AGH is, Apple never says how cheap Samsung phones are built and Pitt should not say Penn State Sucks ( even when we play them ).

People over 40 may disagree but under 40 fans just simply don't have the hatred for PSU. They have passion for Pitt but not hatred for PSU. I vote for passion not hatred.

I remember being a young Swervin in 86, at the cuse - pitt hoops game at Civic Arena. Student section did the "penn state sucks" chant and I turned to my older bro and asked why? since, we were playing Syracuse? He just said that's what we do.. Then the student section (and the rest of the arena) chanted in unison "KIDNAPPED KIDNAPPED" to Rony Seikaly. Back then, student sections were a little more crass than nowadays.
