OK, actually it's to create a "mini-conference" among the tied teams and go by the record of the teams in only the games they played against each other. If there are teams still tied in the "mini-conference" then those teams will be broken out into their own "mini-conference" and the head to head records of those teams are compared. If there are still ties after that then they start at the top of the standings to find who did better against the better teams. For instance if two teams are tied and one of them beat the team that finished in first in the standings and the other didn't then the team that beat the number one team finishes ahead of the other team.
