What happened to the rollouts

in the 4th quarter?

As I remember it, every 3rd down pass had Peterman in the pocket, throwing across the field to his right and to a receiver who was not a wideout.

Eliminates risk of interceptions, but...

How about a pass on 1st down?

Up by 10 or 13, how about a shot at the jugular? Max protection and take a shot deep? Maybe a completion or maybe interference?
 
I actually think Peterman is far better throwing on those designed rollouts. Yes, he only has two targets at that point but it's not as if he sees more than that anyways and the motion beforehand forces the defense to respect both sides until the snap.

He's just not good in the pocket, and Pitt's wide receivers aren't good enough right now to give him any separation and a wide enough window to throw in to with confidence.

At least on the rollouts he has a chance to gain positive yardage if he pulls it down and decides to run for the sideline.
