Drunk dude falls onto the field and nearly dies. Now, an usher fought a drunk fan.

The Pirates lead the majors in major fan incidents per fans at games.

I wished this team would leave the city and we can make PNC Park into a Pitt/MLS stadium.

2 football stadiums side by side. you should run for mayor, you'd be perfect for the job.

yeah the usher started punching and escalated the whole situation. he should be fired
Yeah, I agree with you on the surface. You don't throw down without first being hit yourself.

Having said that, where was the rest of the Pirates security team? Why was he left alone on an island to deal with this? I don't know exactly what happened, but perhaps he was thinking that he was in danger and fighting was his only way to protect himself? I see the body language from the fan - he clearly was threatening. I'd tend to go lighter on the employee if that were the case. Maybe just as suspension.

I found myself rooting for the usher, but he did throw the first punch.

Yeah, that just escalated for too long for a punch not to be thrown. It just seemed like the next logical progression, lol. I'm shocked no one got in the middle of that sooner.

I'm kind of on team "Ah, Who Cares?" about the whole thing, and I think it's funny. But it's the internet, so of course everything is the worst thing ever. But I feel like this kind of stuff happened a good bit before cameras were so prevalent and somehow people lived through it.

He was on an island because the Nutting's most likely cut the amount of security they have in the stadium to save a few pennies.

Yeah, the drunk fan looked pretty threatening and was saying god knows what. I'm actually surprised more service employees aren't slapping belligerent drunks at least once a month or so, there's nothing worse to deal with than someone like this fan.

Helps if you have a radio to call for help.

Sometimes people deserve to have the shit slapped out of them without being the ones that slapped first.

If this stuff continues might be worth while attending. The employee needed the Pirate Parrot to join in and really mess that guy up.
Spitting on someone is assault. I hope that guy gets off with just an insincere apology.

One of my thoughts while watching this was what kind of bum goes to a Pirates game. And then look at this guy and his buddy and his wife. Look like total trash. That said, the Pirates employee should have handled it better. Those employees have to understand they are going to be dealing with drunk trash.

If an adult can’t handle his booze and starts to taunt people then he got what he deserved. Being drunk isn’t a license to abuse people. He kept going after the employee and the employee kept walking away. Hey, you keep looking for a fight you’re going to get it.
You go ahead and hire the drunk adult. I’ll hire the former Pirates employee.
At least one guy at PNC said enough.

Bs. The guy kept walking away and the loser kept after him.

Apologize for what? That backasswards. I guess it’s ok to get shitfaced and taunt employees. Do you work for LuLu Lemon?

Give him a raise and put him in the Bullpen

I don't know, something like "I'm sorry I whipped your ass with my belt, even though you deserved it. I'm truly sorry I didn't have access to anything more lethal. But I'm mainly sorry the episode was on video."

When I worked at the old arena in the 80’s security tooned up a lot of people especially at rock concerts. Every security guard had a radio and then more guards were on the scene and to help the security guard. This included a continuous beat down of the fan.

The only fault the usher did was not being able to get back-up or get the police.

The best fight I ever saw was at a Pens game. An older man a row above a young man started beating the young man so bad the game actually stopped and the players started watching the fight.

Went to fight and a hockey game broke out!🤣🤣

No, the usher did not start the whole situation. The two drunk Yinzers started the whole thing by harassing a female concession worker. I'm willing to bet that the drunk Yinzer who spit, may have did it earlier in the conversation as well.

Didn't happen as much before sports organizations decided to place making money selling alcohol over the safety of uts fans and employees.

So you think its acceptable for an employee in security to escalate the situation from a verbal altercation to a physical one by punching the man in the face multiple times, gotcha. This "security" guard was a thug and ill trained if you think that is the correct protocol

Personally, if it were my daughter who the redneck white piece of trash was harassing, I would be thanking beltman for his intervention. And buying him a dinner at Hyde Park.

I am surprised it took this long for one of "these" types of posters to have this take. Again, while the Pirates employee was in the wrong from a professional standpoint, he was in the right if that altercation had been in most other environments. The guy deserved to get punched in the face, you just shouldn't do that while on the clock.

Do we know exactly what the guy and his buddy did? All I've seen is that he harassed a female concession worker. I would like to know what constitutes the harassment.

You guys have *no idea* what a redneck is. If people here want to add a racial dynamic to the event, be my guest. A guy with a snapback hat, hipster glasses and beard, and Jordan's or some other basketball type shoe on is further away from a redneck than the black guy.

Looks like half of the hoopies at the brawl. Acts like 2/3rds of the hoopies at the brawl.

Nah, dude has a point. I don't think your average resident of Morgantown is a solid representation of a true American redneck. Honestly, most real rednecks don't really care for football beyond what they see at their local high school. Head to head, the tractor pull or the dirt track race will always get priority over college football.
