Being a coach in any sport your goal is to win and you accomplish this by maximizing your players abilities. You do this by indivual improvement and in team sports by making your teams more cohesive and seemless. You put people in winning situations and find the right combination of players at the right time. Sometimes your limited by your talent but a good coach is easy to spot. His teams IMPROVE. Does this sound like anybody ? For all you JD bashers there's no denying his teams and his players improve ask yourselves ,what could he accomplish at a school that recuirts elites ? He coaches at a school without a great local talent base, a school that plays by the rules, a school who suspends one of their best players for the year against the coaches wishes, who takes a pass on questionable academic or character kids ,who has no history of bb excellence ......you can fill in the blank. He's a great coach face it and Pitt is lucky to have him, they know it and pay him accordingly .Could he recuirt better ? Sure he could , hopefully by playing the AAU game now will help in the future ,but thinking that Pitt will ever be a mecca of 5*'s is just irrational thinking. He's a great coach and with a little improvement in the recuirting area who knows where he could lead the team
