What "new stuff" on offense will we see?

Any predictions? Last year we hid all the misdirection and jet sweeps from PSU and they were like a deer in headlights. What will it be this year?

First of all, I think/hope there's a big emphasis on Henderson in the passing game for this game and for this year. I believe we were hiding his routes vs YSU.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Henderson has an even bigger emphasis as a QB in a read-option package.

Maybe we go some 4 or 5 wide so PSU has to take a LB off the field and we can expose the mighty mite, Lamont Wade?

I expect to see more downfield passing to Weah and Matthews and high tight end utilization with Reeves and Clark down the seems. I expect Q to be largely used as a decoy tomorrow.

I see Aston coming out of the tunnel on a crucial 3rd down and running onto the field to clean house beating Lions with his crutch as Henderson distracts the referee.

Those are possibilities. I expect us to use QH out of the backfield on routes in which he is matched up on a LB. I would look for him on crossing routes as well. Ffrench is another guy to look for. I think he plays a bigger role.

I'll repeat what I said in another thread, I hope they have a lot of new wrinkles on the D side of the ball - along with plenty on the O side.

New stuff? I'd be happy with the defense registering a sack or forcing a turnover.
I agree. The "new stuff" should be on defense ... as it was with the 13-9 game. I don't think PN is willing (or feels any compulsion) to change it though (similar to how Wannstedt was only willing to do so for that game).

As for Henderson emerging big in the passing game, I think it might be wishful thinking by now. For some reason he hasn't been a factor as a receiver. It could be he can't get separation from d-backs who play him tight? Or he just doesn't run particularly good routes? Doesn't give a big enough target? Whatever it might be, I was waiting for that, as many likely were, all last year and it didn't surface.

So for offense, I think a 2nd gamebreaker in the run game needs to emerge to make QH less of a target on sweeps. I don't think Ollison or Hall provide much threat at all. Davis, haven't seen enough. Moss or (obviously) Sibley would be interesting to see. Short of them, perhaps use Ffrench and Henderson together to try to free one or the other.

I don't foresee any big new wrinkles on defense. On offense, lets hope Watson and company doesn't look like "vanilla".
