Out rebounded by 8 (by 12 on offensive boards). Committed 15 turnovers to Vandy's 11. If Pitt hadn't shot a lot better % than Vandy it would have been a blowout given Vandy had 70 FG attempts to Pitt's 50 FG attempts.

FWIW--Sagarin's computer was on the money with Vandy by 1 point.

The big white guy for Vandy really hustled.

Hugley looked really slow.

It’s the first game I’ve watched this year end to end. Weird court arrangement took some time getting used to.

it only all that, but the Refs could have called more fouls on vandy they did, not sure where refs were from but they really seemed like sec refs, looked a little one sided

A couple thoughts on the refs ...

Actually, there is no such thing as an SEC or any particular conference referee in college basketball. Referees are independent contractors who referee games in many different conferences during the season, even within the same week.

As an example, Doug Sirmons did last night's game. He also officiated Pitt's game against FDU at the Pete. Pat Adams was the second ref. He did the Houston / St. Mary's game on Saturday. James Breeding was the third ref. He did the St. John's / Iowa State game the night before. Another good example is Kipp Kissenger -- he officiated the Pitt - WVU game at the Pete earlier this year, and he just did the Baylor game at Gonzaga last week.

Breeding/Adams/Sirmons was also very high level crew of officials -- all three would be considered among the top 20 refs in college hoops. Breeding and Sirmons both have been selected to participate in the last two Final Fours and Pat Adams did the Final Four in 2021. The Final Four refs are selected by a grading system from the entire tournament.

Also, last night's fouls were 16 for Pitt and 18 for Vanderbilt. There are 35-37 fouls called in average game so this was a little below average.

To pick a nit, that game was not at Gonzaga. It would be a little unusual for someone to do games on both the east coast and the west coast unless it was a special event. That game was played at a neutral site, of all places in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Still …

Still …

For the record, the only reason why I know that is because I saw the game on the ticker while it was going on, and I thought hey, that's a good game, I have to find out what channel its on so I can watch it. And that was when I found out that it was at a neutral site and was being shown on Peacock (which I don't have).

I didn’t watch it, but I checked out the box score the day after. One of the things I always check in a box score is who the officials were. Anyway, I saw Kip and already knew he did our WVU game. I saw that Gonzaga was the home team and figured it was out there instead of Iowa.
