For me, it was to Notre Dame with my son. Great atmosphere & great time with him before he grew up and moved to Colorado.

Got the chance to experience Notre Dame in 2018 for the first time, we had a great time (besides the final score, of course).

A few others I really liked
- Iowa; Went in 2015 for the night game. Amazing atmosphere.
- Oklahoma State; Unique in that we had a rain delay, but it was the friendliest group of home fans we've ever encountered. However, we didn't go to the Clemson game so I don't know how they compare.

I've followed Pitt on the road alot but my favorite was last year vs. Ga Tech:. Beautiful weather in early November, Nice Small Stadium, Ga Tech fans were nice and Atlanta was a nice City to spend a weekend in. On top of that Pitt won.

Worst? 2005 Fiesta Bowl:. Spent a fortune to support a half asses Pitt Administration to see Pitt lose to Urban legend. Also Utah fans are assholes.

Texas A&M. And it’s not even close. 40,000 people show up to the stadium at midnight the night before the game for “Yell Practice”. Classiest fans in maybe all of sports. Respect college football. Even though Pitt won (this was the game where Fitz went nuts), every person greeted us with “Welcome to Aggie-Land”. Did not have to buy a beer all weekend. Incredible tailgating scene. The best.

I was there too It was incredibly hot. In fact several Pitt fans were hospitalized. A@M fans warned us not too drink beer before the game to avoid heat .dehydration. Nice place but only for a night game IMO

Clemson is obviously #1

But beyond that? The little ceasars bowl was a ton of fun for some reason. The Utah/Vegas combo over labor day weekend during the Wanny era was a lot of fun.

That was a great game. We hadn't been able to make it to a game since moving to AL in 2018, so last year my son and I drove over to Atlanta for the GT game, Alumni tailgate, etc.

In my younger days, Ranger Dan and I drove his Dad's minivan from Johnstown to FL for the Tangerine Bowl to meet up with CrazyPaco and crew.

I agree on the Utah fans.

Never thought that there would be an equally ignorant group to the Hoopies but they were.

I went to both of those games as well. The Iowa game was awesome, and their fans were very friendly as well.

I also enjoyed the Larry Fitzgerald show at the insight bowl.

Notre Dame. Was really impressed that every person we passed who was working there (security, ticket taker, whatever) said, "Welcome to Notre Dame." I have never been welcomed at any other stadium.

It also didn't hurt that we beat the Domers in four overtimes, and as we emerged from the stadium I ran right into Chancellor Nordenberg, shook his hand, and said, "Great game, Chancellor."

Clemson by a mile. Even got a free Bojangle's after because that was the promo if they scored 40. Best post-game meal ever.

wvu 1973. The famous program game. Billy Daniels in the first half, The Hawk in the second. Was on the GP bus with the staff wives. Yikes!!

I did not make the Clemson game because I got super sick that week. However, South Bend and Annapolis are definitely must do trips. They are both just incredible experiences.

There have been many, many others as well. College Station, Lincoln, State College, Iowa City, etc.

The trip to Iowa really stands out to me because that was the day it was announced that Pitt was going to the ACC.

There is a long backstory to that but I have a friend in the know who kinda/sorta tipped me off to that on Friday. I say kinda/sorta because I had no idea what he was talking about at the time.

Basically, he just told me to keep an eye on College Football GameDay the next morning because Pitt was going to be prominently featured. I had no idea what the hell he was talking about?

Then, on Saturday morning, we were all eating breakfast in our hotel lobby and the news was spreading like wildfire. It was FASCINATING to watch people‘s reaction to the news in real time.

I will never forget that.

I’ll also never forget that not everyone in that lobby was thrilled with the news. I remember being shocked at how many people who didn’t fully comprehend what was happening and why.

People were asking questions like, “Can we stay in the Big East for basketball?” Things like that.

I was trying to explain to them that there was not going to be a Big East anymore — at least not as we had known it.

People were also speculating all sorts of wild things like would Connecticut and Rutgers and West Virginia also join as as “football only” members — crazy things like that.

I just don’t think a lot of them were fully grasping what was happening and why we were so lucky.

My friends had long tired of me talking about the need for something like this to happen or we were going to be left behind forever; so they were probably thrilled too because they no longer had to hear about it.

However, a lot of the other Pitt fans we ran into that day had no clue the significance or good fortune of the news. We were like that soldier hanging off the helicopter ladder as it few out of Saigon.

We were very fortunate to have received that invitation.

I just remember getting really, really drunk that night even though we had blown a 17-point fourth quarter lead because our moron coach kept running a hurry-up offense instead of managing the game. I remember running into so many Iowa fans who were perplexed with me and my friends having a great time after such a difficult loss.

That’s just one of those trips that will always stick in my mind.

I cannot put the Fiesta Bowl on that list because even though Tempe was a really cool town and Arizona is obviously lovely weatherwise in January, the Utah fans were such absolute idiots that it was hard to enjoy it.

That was a really strange experience. On one hand, it was fun because it was a major bowl game and you were in Arizona in January. On the other hand, it was vaguely confrontational at times, which made no sense whatsoever. Honestly, the Utah fans were straight up assholes.

Also, we knew that Pitt wasn’t a great team and that there was a decent chance we were going to lose. I don’t think we realized how badly we were going to be outclassed, but I do remember thinking going in that it was going to be difficult to win the game.

We’re they that bad?
I wasn’t there.
We’re Ute Fans were like Hoopie level bad, or like Ped State fans?
You’d think Mormons would be nicer.

ACC title game. Been to bowls when the local citizens had no clue there was a game in town . Charlotte was buzzing and everyone was happy to see pitt fans

The best: Notre Dame, Navy (Both schools have outstanding campuses and welcoming fans.)

Good: UVA (The campus and downtown Charlottesville are awesome.)

Okay: Duke (Nice campus, tho’ it constantly reminds you that football is not their #1 sport.)

Bad: WVU. (My opinion of Hoopie U will forever be tarnished by our experience when we took a university-sponsored bus from Oakland to Morgantown. Our bus pulled into the assigned parking lot and was immediately pelted by rocks - which continued until security appeared. I’ll never go there again.)

I enjoyed the 1987 Bluebonnet Bowl. Met some great people on the plane ride to Houston. Pitt threw a postgame New Years Eve party which took the edge off the loss (32-27 to Texas in the Astrodome). The UT fans near us were classy and friendly. Pitt couldn't handle the Longhorns' speed and played catch-up from the game's first play.

They were WVU fans in red and white. Obnoxious assholes. I'm still pissed that Pitt's administration trashed a great, proud Pitt Football program, and for what? So Nerdy wouldn't have to hear JoePA idol worshippers at the Allegheny Club tease him about a Pitt player with bad grades, while they harbored a Serial Pedophile for 20 years.

F#$k Pitt's Administration.

Way back in I think 1994. I was home on leave and my nephew was at UT. I go to the game Pitt was kicking ass then the temperature when up to over 100 degrees and Pitt just tried out. Great game atmosphere and great fans. Would love an annual Pitt UT game. Never going to happen.

Hey you never know. Say Texas becomes an independent and they need to fill dates. Perhaps we could schedule a series.

Favorite by far: The 1977 Sugar Bowl when we won the National Championship. Before you get too jealous, just calculate how old I have to be to have watched it as an alumnus.

That same year, 1977, I went to the Gator Bowl game in Jacksonville where we destroyed Clemson. We were surrounded by Clemson fans and they were great even in a neutral setting.

The other bowl game I really enjoyed was the Fiesta Bowl against Arizona. I’ve been to much better bowl games but that one was special because we stayed at the official hotel for Pitt fans and got seated for dinner with a couple of whom the husband had played on Pitt’s first national championship team under Jock Sutherland. He went on to dental school and a successful career. He and his wife had been married for almost 50 years and were still so in love that it was like watching a movie about a truly perfect marriage. (We obviously didn’t learn enough from them, as we were divorced three years later.)
