What would a win against GT tell you about this team?

It’s a more important game than last week so

In this respect it would tell me they are starting to take care of business

If they win the next two they are 3-1 btw

Just curious I know its been a rough week in town. Would a win move the needle for any of you?

Absolutely - Wins always move the needle.
Pitt was a 9 point dog last week and I think is a 3 point dog now?
Pitt ended last season on a super high note - bounced back from a disappointing loss at VTech to beat a highly ranked Miami team. We come to Heinz Field and open with an embarrassing loss.
Didn't we do that under Wanny after we beat WVU to end the season?

We can still have a great season - or a terrible one.
Lets play the games and find out.

Thats a bingo....
Couldn’t wait to get started after 13-9.
Jumped out 14-0.....gave up 35 pts straight.

To Bowling Green.

Just another PITT Special...getting up 14-0 has not been good to Pitt

It would show some team mental toughness and some good motivational psychology work on the part of the coaches. It would also show that last week is an aberration--because the team and coaches that showed up last week wouldn't have beat Slippery Rock.

All eyes on Watson. To this point in his time at Pitt he has been less than serviceable.

Depends on the score and nature of the game.

If we astonish the world and clamp down on that freak offense we've never really stopped, i'd feel good going forward.

Even if we still bend and yield a good bit of yards and points but win comfortably because the offense performed like gangbusters, I'd also feel good.

Seeing a combo of both of above, I'd feel really good.

If we don't perform very well O or D, but squeak out a win because GT committed a ton of self inflicted mistakes, I would naturally feel good about winning, but likely feel no added confidence for the rest of the way.

I would be cautiously optimistic. It would show me that the team can handle adversity and bounce back. If we lose this one, the season will be in spiral and we are staring down the barrel of a two win season

I have UCF pencilled in as a loss. They are going to shred our d.
Syracuse is no gimme. Lose Saturday, couple that with our inability to beat UNC and that leaves Virginia as the only conceivable game. I don't see us favored the rest of the season except maybe Virginia

This game has defined Pitt's season since joining the ACC. Win... it will be a good season. Lose... 6 wins is the ceiling... this year... probably 4.

Syracuse will get their points against just about any D. Another game where all the pressure rides on Watson and the Pitt O to put a lot of points on the board.

I think we put too much blame on Watson for the offensive struggles. After the first two games it's pretty easy to tell that there is zero talent on that side of the ball. It's tough to get creative with your play calling when the offensive line can't block anyone.

We haven’t scored a point in the second half. We did not score a point in the second half against Albany for crying out loud. What exactly is he doing at half time because we are getting shut down?

Would be too soon to say, though I am sure the overreactions will be posted. If it would contribute to competing for our division, it would say something. Otherwise it's just a pit stop before a bunch of losses both from a manageable division and an unusually difficult non conference schedule.
