If Pitt could hire a Cas Myslinski type AD, what would he do to turn around this so far moribund football program? Since 2009, our greatest achievements are 8-5 with a bowl loss to an AAC team and 8-5 with a loss to a middling Big Ten team. In year 3 of the Myslinski tenure, Pitt beat Notre Dame, won the Sun Bowl, and launched a national championship season the following year.

Sure, scholarship limits are now in place but we have proven we know how to win, how to get the job done. So why aren't we?

I’d say, pretty much what Heather is doing minus the extension given to Narduzzi...

We aren't winning because it takes a consistent investment and consistent smart decisions. Pitt has shown they struggle with both.

true, but that won't really get you too far. Read the Aaron Hernandez series that ran in the Boston globe last week. That should give you an idea of what it takes to win. Or look no further than three hours to the east. You hire a coach coming off a sex abuse case that he is potentially linked to even though you are coming off a major sex abuse scandal. And for final validation, google "Bag men of the SEC"

That should give you an indication of what it takes to win these days.

Think about this. We have not had a season of less than 3 losses since.................1981. 1981. How many of you were even born then? How many of us weren't even out of High School? The Rolling Stones were young men then. Sidney Crosby wasn't born, Mario Lemieux wasn't even head of here in Pittsburgh. Dan Marino was still in college. Terry Bradshaw was the starting QB for the Steelers. We didn't even know who Specoli was yet. ET? Nothing.

So......we don't know how to win, we don't know how to get the job done. Or that very fact above would not be true. Whether it was all out cheating like we did, or the boy scout program we've become, old Pitt Stadium, Heinz Field, Hall of Fame QB or Max Browne, Outland Trophy winner, Lombardi winner, Heisman runner up, the above remains true. We have no clue, none, no clue on how to win. None. Anyone who has had anything to do with the management of this University in regards to any athletic decisions should be relieved of their duties.

Those people who hired a Cas Myslinski, who went out of the box and hired Johnny Majors, and were smart enough to grab Jackie Sherrill? They are gone. Dead. If not dead, then eating apple sauce from a straw watching the Golden Girls reruns getting ready for bed at 7:00.

Sorry man for being a bit blunt.

To win at the national title competitor level? Maybe sadly that is mostly true.

To win to the extent Stanford, or Leach-era Washington State, or Iowa or Wisconsin does? I am not so sure those are dirty programs more than we are, but they are better. I'd love for Pitt to be in that conference title competitor level. Apparently everyone else in the coastal can do it. Even NC State seems to be building a more consistently winning program.

Cas Myslinski was athletic director when Pittsburgh was a major national center of high school football. You can't replicate that now. Maybe you can replicate WVU's model of graduate and JUCO transfers on top of some Florida, Georgia, and local recruiting and win 10 games though.

I know we are in it for nothing less than championships. They say so at every introductory press conference for a new AD. And new coach. And new AD. And new coach. And...
