The 3 worst D1 conferences. The MEAC has only been to the Round of 32 3 times, the SWAC twice, and the NEC has never been there. These conferences are much closer to the D2 level than they are to the mid-major level. We saw what happened to RMU this year. They would have been the unanimous favorite to win the NEC but instead finished last in the Horizon.
What would the First Four be without the MEAC, SWAC, and NEC?

Of course they were picked to finish fourth in the Horizon, so what does that mean?
It means that the coaches in the Horizon don't think that there is as big a difference between the two conferences as you do.

Well, I would have agreed that the runaway pick in the NEC should finish mid-table in a legit mid-major league. RMU had injuries and lost Bramah so there record wasnt indicative of their season as they lost many close games but last is last. The NEC is bad. Closer to the PSAC than Horizon in my opinion.
