Whatever happened to simmerdunna?

just curious
He got into an argument with the guy who runs the ProAm and blasted him with obscenities in a couple posts.
I think he was given a "time out" but jumped right back into it again when he was allowed back. At that point he was banned.

It came down to the fact that simmer thought he was more important to the program than the ProAm was. He found he was wrong.

Ironically, I'm pretty sure I sat beside him at Greentree one night. He was there with Chevy. The guy has a huge ego. He could be very knowledgeable abd insightful and in the next breath veer off into a manical self-promoting monolog or viscous attack on someone.

It could be fun to come up with a list of long time gone notorious posters.

Here's some:

Simmerdunna
CRC (It actually may have been crcpitt)
Phil-the-Shill (or any of his other 1,794 names)
Doke88 (before his days as the well-know blogger)
allstarinc (this one goes way back to Frank's Board, but he was actually a pretty cool dude)
NTOP (oh, wait ... he's still here)

Who else?

I met allstarinc at a game at the Pete years ago. He is a very cool dude.

Did they finally track ip addresses to be able to ban Phil? If not what happened to him?

He was such a polarizing guy. Was very confrontational. One day he was arguing with someone and accidentally responded in a thread using another screen name. He immediately went in and deleted the post, but not before I was able to capture the info. It was a rivals log in called AZ basketball coach, or something along those lines. I snooped around and saw that he was a Middle school or JV coach in Arizona somewhere? That is, if memory serves me right. It's been a long time.

Wish we had the pipeline to Chester still. Lol.

He was from Williamsport.

Now that Phil has chimed in, I wonder if we'll ever hear from Putt12 again.

I also wonder why Phil didn't honor his bet with UPitt 89 to never post again when Pitt made the tourney 2 years ago.

Gee wiz DT.... you open a Pandora's Box and Phil-the-Shill jumps out (lol).

Or, was it a jack-in-the-box.

That seems about right.

If you are listing notorious posters.... you gotta include the one-and-only... Goldbergfan. He is still around on another ID, stops in every once in a while to lay a 'Goldy' on SMF... so don't know if he should be included or not.

I know he certainly doesn't need validation from me, but I really came to like Phil. He was part of the board character that I really liked.

Putt made some really great insights but am I remembering correctly that he lost it for some reason? Maybe after a bad tourney loss or something?

Putt seemed to be highly tied in to Philly area players, and used to talk about seeing games and high school players who played there, although back when the site listed IP addresses, his was in AZ, actually VERY close to that of simmerdunna. He may have moved from the Philly area to Phoenix? I used to keep a spreadsheet with some IP addresses because a few posters got banned fairy frequently and kept coming back under new handles. It was handy to know who I was actually arguing with sometimes.

Anyway, Putt was prone to over-hype some recruits,. He was a huge John Johnson fan and also made some highly optimistic predictions that Pitt would have the best front line in the nation with Dante Taylor, Khem Birch and Malcolm Gilbert, plus Steve Adams coming in. When Birch left, Taylor underacheved and Gilbert and Flip were total busts, I'm not sure Putt ever posted again here. He had some pretty serious fights with simmerdunna earlier and took about a year's self-imposed time away from the board once before but this time seems permanent.

I liked readng his posts and he definitely knew basketball. Before the Nova and Butler losses broke the hearts of the fanbase, things used to be fairly civil on here and arguments were about basketball, not whether the head coach makes good eye contact or how much we should cheat.
We could use more posters like Putt.

What about the guy claiming Dixon didn't travel with the team and was taking a job at USC or something like that. Wasn't his name something like pantherfan2010? He also made a bet to give a shirt if someone got something right and he disappeared never to fulfill his deal.

I have also noticed ironically that the season that Phil lost the bet to UPitt89, they were going back and forth so much I think Phil got the better of that deal. He never honored the bet and UPItt89 hardly posts anymore. It's like Phil wore UPitt89 out. Weird how things work out because those 2 going back and forth was almost nonstop - epic.

He claimed to be working for a firm which Pitt was using to negotiate contracts with coaches, and was leaking what would have been very confidential information, posting it on a message board?

Anybody doing that would last about a week before he got caught and fired. Or less. I'm not saying the guy might not have been an intern or a go-fer in the Athletic Department here, though. He had SOME good info fairly often, but wasn't always right.

Dixon WAS offered a boatload of money at USC and Pitt basically matched the offer. PF2010 was not the only guy saying Dixon was travelling to USC after the loss. That rumor was strong. There is a segnent of the old Golden Panther type boosters who have never been Dixon fans. They wanted Calipari and would still push Jamie out tomorrow if they could. Now their target is one of the Millers. I think they were the source of the "Dixon on a plane to USC" rumors.

Jamie might have come closer to leaving a year or two previously to AZ or ASU. That one was kept quiet until he was signed to an extension and raise here.

There is a reason Phil didn't honor the bet... Phil DIDNT MAKE A BET. Not sure who is a bigger idiot: a person who makes a bet on an anonymous message board or the one who accepts it...

He did make the bet - everyone read it and they were going back and forth for weeks about it.

UPitt'89 wasn't worn out. He just doesn't post on the hoops board during the off season.

Trust me, when I first started posting on here a few years ago UPitt'89 was posting as much as anyone. On the football board he was always there. I'm telling you, that whole bet argument wore him out because he hardly posts anywhere anymore. Phil was really hard on him when they made that bet.

Sorry sunshine.. Phil never made the bet. Chairman Moe can confirm. Was emailing him and laughing at the imposters who were on here at that time. I've never hid before and won't now. As I said before, I never made the bet. I don't get into pissing matches with anonymous idiots on these boards. It is a complete waste of time. I make my point and that's it. Always have...

Well whomever was pretending to be you did a damn good job then because the whole board thought it was you.

Who did the Thrills and Spills? Was that IanZiering or something?

SIMM is a damn cool guy. A little over the top on the Lair? U betcha but believe me he's a damn good role model, coach & teacher out here in AZ. He is the pride of Williamsport too. H2P!

I know, I was reading the posts.. I actually had a conversation with UP89 that was deleted, I came on and stated it wasn't me..

U seem to think that you are Phil but... R U sure? You could be an impostor you know.

Could be someone else was really Phil and you came on and people thought you were Phil and then you started thinking you were Phil but... you weren't.

Will the real Phil please stand up!!!

Hmmm... that don't work around here.

On cue.. The board idiot chimes in... In the end who cares what or who posts on an anonymous board..

Well... due to Phil having his ID locked out... there is no real way to tell who the real Phil is... as apparently there are impostors that do a good job of pretending to be Phil... and YOU could be one of those impostors.

He was from Williamsport.

I am also from Williamsport and played against Simmer in middle school and high school.

People may not like him, but he pretty much didn't really lie about his experiences. He does coach in AZ.

He doesn't lie but he exaggerates more than a bit. He was the #3 coach at Williamsport, and also at his AZ school. He took a lot of credit for developing the two high scoring brothers in his AZ school. He conveniently forgot to mention that 1) the brothers' FATHER was the #2 coach and 2) the father was former Olympian and NBA star Hersey Hawkins. I suspect genetics was a little more important to their success than the coaching from the second assistant/ JV coach.

He also agreed to step down from a PA head coaching gig he had after Williamsport after punching an opposing player. He has a temper, which gets out of control and is why he was banned here

The guy does know basketball, but as mentioned above, he gets a little over the top some times.

It's all starting to come back now. He wasn't very well liked here...and he sounds like the kind of guy who is less popular in real life.

Sorry, anyone who proclaims Cassin Diggs an Elite player knows very little about the game..

A lot of people who have met him really seem to like him.He told somebody (maybe Zeke?) that much of what he posted on here was just to pull people's legs.

He did have a strong opinion of his own worth.

I'm still shocked that it wasn't the real Phil who made the bet with UPitt'89. The mannerisms were down to a tee with that imposter. The whole board thought it was him.
